Christmas at Attingham

Throughout November preparations have been well under way across the estate as we get ready for our 1920s Christmas to start on Saturday 3 December. You’ll discover traditions old and new from the 1920s to the present day and maybe even create some of you own at Attingham this December.

perfect Lady Berwick’s festive menu.

Attingham Christmas starts on Saturday 3 December and the Mansion is open daily from 10.30am with last entry at 3pm, up to and including Saturday 23 December. Pick up a leaflet from Visitor Reception with all the details of what’s happening and when each day.

For visitors, restoration work should not cause too much disturbance. However, do be aware that there might be diversions on popular and well used

footpaths. Next time you are visiting, keep an eye out for restoration work and information dotted around the route, as the Pleasure Grounds are

transformed into an outdoor picture gallery, full of bright natural colour.

Jog off your Jumper

It wouldn't be Christmas without a novelty jumper, and we're giving you the chance to wear it one last time before it's hidden away! Join us for a family fun-run through the park on Monday 2 January. The run is approximately 1 mile and begins at 11am, and all participants will receive a festive runners’ medal!

Booking is essential, standard admission charges apply and there is an additional charge to take part, please visit our What's On page for more information and to book, or call the booking line on 03442491895.

Christmas at Sunnycroft

Escape the bustle of Christmas with a visit to Sunnycroft in Wellington, a hidden green oasis

in the middle of Suburbia. Step inside the front door of Sunnycroft and let Christmas

surround you. From your first glimpse of the tree in the Staircase Hall to the sound of choirs

drifting through the rooms, relax and get in the festive spirit.

The house, tearoom and grounds will be open for Christmas, Friday—Tuesday from

Saturday 9 to Tuesday 20 December, from 10.30am—4pm. National Trust members and

under 5s visit for free, admission charges apply for non-members.

Deer Feeding

Each winter weekend at 2pm (and daily in the Shropshire School Holidays) you can watch as our Rangers feed the deer in our Deer Park. Ask for directions from Visitor Reception on arrival. Keep an eye out from 17—24 December as the Christmas elves will be lending our Rangers a hand and feeding the deer from their specially adapted sleigh!

Garden Harvest The Walled Garden team are harvesting produce 364 days a year! This December look out for celeriac, parsnips, the last of the apple harvest, chard, swedes, and turnips all grown in our organic garden and orchard and for sale in our Stable Shop. Perfect for your Christmas Dinner!

Our Cycle Policy To keep the park and grounds a safe environment, families are welcome to bring tricycles and starter bikes (with stabilisers, or without pedals) to Attingham to enable children to learn to ride a bike and gain the necessary skills in the grounds. Please remember that standard bicycles are not permitted in the park whatever the cyclists age.

Visitor information: Paddock open for winter Over the winter months you are welcome to walk in the paddock, just off the Mile Walk. Dogs may be let off a lead in this area. Provided they remain under the owner’s control.

We have received complaints, and are witnessing dog fouling in this area. This area is grazed by cattle during the warmer months and dog faeces pose a serious risk to their health and can lead to their death.

Our tenant farmer kindly allows us to use this paddock during the winter—please ensure you pick up any dog faeces and dispose of them in the dog waste bins around the grounds.

Mansion Winter Tours There are no winter tours in December as we’re open for Christmas. Tours will take place again on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Friday 6 January to Sunday 26 February. Tours vary each day and take place be-tween 11am and 2.30pm and there is no additional charge for the tours. There’s no need to book, however we do have bookable tickets for our 12 noon tour on 01743 708170 (line manned 9am-5pm, Monday—Friday).
