ATLAS (ROBOT)Atlas is a bipedal humanoid robot.
Its developed by the American robotics
company Boston Dynamics.
With funding and oversight from
the United States Defense Advanced
Research Projects Agency. (DARPA).
The 1.8-meter (6 ft) robot is designed for
a variety of search and rescue tasks.
It was unveiled to the public on July
11,2013

DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT
Atlas is based on Boston Dynamics' earlier Petman humanoid robot.
Atlas includes 28 hydraulically-actuated degrees of freedom, two hands, arms, legs, feet and a torso.
Constructed of aluminium and titanium. It stands approximately 5.9 feet tall, weighs 330
pounds (150 kg) Atlas is equipped with two vision systems
Laser rangefinder & Stereo camera

MACHINE TO BE PERFORMED
Drive utility vehicle.
Travel dismounted through various
terrains.
Remove debris blocking doorway.
Open doors, enter building.
Climb ladder/stairs.
Break through wall.
Locate and close valve.
Connect fire hose.

“The ultimate goal is to create roots that can
respond to dangerous emergencies.”
If a robot could drive a vehicle, open doors, and
explore where humans could not, and turn valves,
the damage would have been much more
controlled.
The future of this robot is for it to do anything
that a human can’t to keep humans safe.
FUTURE OF ATLAS
![Page 10: ATLAS(The Robot)](https://reader035.vdocuments.site/reader035/viewer/2022062412/58cf69da1a28ab01358b6579/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
ADVANTAGES
Atlas can go in environments
that humans can’t withstand.
It acts and resembles a human.
Aids emergency services in
search and rescue operations.

DISADVANTAGES
It just got revealed in
july2013, so it still has to
malfunction.
It is 6 feet tall and weights
30 pounds
