STATEMENT OF NEEDWhile interventional endoscopy courses are held on ayearly basis in the Northwest, Southwest, and Northeast,the Southeast has been underserved in CME accreditedtherapeutic endoscopy programs. Despite multiple largecenters and local and regional practitioners in gastroen-terology, there are no interventional endoscopy courses in the area.

OVERVIEWEmory University School of Medicine has a long history ofhosting major international CME courses. The Interven-tional Endoscopy program at Emory focuses on Research,Teaching and Patient Care. As a part of the educationalmission, a major live Interventional and Therapeutic Endoscopy Course has been developed. The ATLAS course will be a two-day event with a Fellow'sHands-on and Didactic Course on Thursday and a Live En-doscopy and Didactic Course on Friday.

The goals of this live activity are to provide:� A hands-on experience and detailed instruction to

senior gastroenterology trainees across the country.

� An understanding of the performance of ERCP in areas such as cannulation, sphincterotomy, stent placement, sampling, cholangioscopy, and intraductal confocal microscopy.

� Increased knowledge surrounding the performanceof EUS in areas such as increased diagnostic yield with FNA, celiac plexus block, transgastric pseudocyst gastrostomy.

� A description of the endoscopic evaluation and management of Barrettís esophagus with or without dysplasia and with or without intramucosalcarcinoma, including EMR, RFA, cryoablation, and confocal endomicroscopy.

� A forum for discussion of contemporary managementof diseases in the area of Interventional Endoscopy.

TARGET AUDIENCEThis program is intended for Faculty members, Gastroen-terologists, Gastroenterology Fellows, Residents, MedicalStudents, Nurses, Allied Health Professionals, Nurse practi-tioners, and Physician Assistants in GI.

SPECIAL INVITATION TO FELLOWSWe are pleased to offer the Emory Interventional Scholarship Program for senior GI fellows. The scholarship will provide a stipend to defray travel expenses,accommodations at the conference center hotel and complimentary registration.
