separating it from )hana Telecom ompany. /y this Act of incorporation, the corporation was
e'pected to operate on sound commercial lines, and to be self"supporting.

The conversion therefore placed the company together with similar private enterprises in the
same legal and regulatory operating environment. (t therefore enabled the company to operatesuccessfully in a competitive commercial environment and also widened the ob1ects of the
company as it e'isted under Act *+*.
ince )hana %ost is a story of outstanding success, it pays tribute to entrepreneurial drive and

Historical Development

postal from the telecommunication sector in countries, where they are a single entity.
The idea of separation was therefore bought by the )hana government and was conse2uently
approved by %arliament. The government, however, accepted as part of the econdTelecommunication %ro1ect 4T%6 to separate the %ost from the Telecoms and to restructure both
entities with the view to!
imulating foreign investment in both entities
E'panding and improving their networ#s to provide commercial and social service and
(mproving their managerial capacities to ensure effective and efficient operations and
maintenance of their facilities and services.
The )hana %ostal ervices orporation was conse2uently established as a separate entity by Act
*+* of %arliament on August 9, --*. Towards the eventual separation of the two entities, all
assets were also shared.
)hana %ost, as part of the econd Telecommunications %ro1ect benefited from a restructuring
study underta#en by a consortium of 3utch and )hanaian consultants, Messrs 7epostel and
=e'croft, financed by the &orld /an#. The government of )hana, notwithstanding the
restructuring study converted )hana %ost to a limited liability company among other tate"
