Pratt Institute, one of the world's top-ranked art, design and architecture colleges, is pleased to announce that renowned fashion house Balenciaga and The Black Alumni of Pratt (BAP) have partnered to establish two full undergraduate scholarships for Pratt Institute students. These scholarships, funded by a generous gift from Balenciaga, will support diversity within fashion, design, art, and architecture education and their professional fields, where diverse voices are often underrepresented. The Balenciaga and The Black Alumni of Pratt (BAP) Full Scholarship provides a $600,000 commitment to cover full undergraduate attendance—including tuition, fees, room and board, supplies, and books—for two students. These scholarships are to be awarded for the fall of 2021, with one supporting an incoming student in the fashion program and the other supporting an incoming
student in design, art, or architecture. Note that accepted undergraduate applicants to Pratt will not need to submit an additional scholarship application for consideration. However, they must complete and file the FAFSA. All applicants meeting eligibility criteria will automatically be considered. The scholarships will be granted to students with demonstrated financial need, merit, excellent portfolio, and a competitive GPA. 9. The annual contribution of $3,000 per year is for tuition only and does not include room and board, books or other mandatory fees associated with the university or program of study. Vitalant, formerly LifeBlood, is offering scholarships this year for up to $1000 per student. But the deadline is February 28, 2021. Thus, there’s a sense of urgency to get the word out. Perhaps you have a way to help spread the word through family and friends, co-workers, schools and/or school groups, youth organizations, faith communities, businesses, nonprofits, and social media. Personally, I’d love to see us award at least 50 scholarships…however, the truth is…there is no limit to the number we can award. The students do, however, have to “earn” the scholarship.
