TUFTS UNIVERSITY : Our commitment to meeting full financial need is an enduring value of this institution - we have both the financial resources and the institutional commitment to make a Tufts education affordable for every admitted student. Financial aid at Tufts is need-based. A student’s financial aid package is determined by our analysis of family financial resources reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and federal tax returns (only required of US citizens, permanent residents, and eligible non-citizens), as well as the CSS Profile. International students for whom submitting the CSS Profile would present a significant financial hardship are welcome to submit the International Student Financial Aid Application in its place. For more information about applying for financial aid, check out this video. Financial aid packages are composed of grants, student loans, and work study funding. Importantly: Students with an annual family income of less than $60,000 USD typically receive a financial aid package with no student loans.

Our Signature Scholars are students from all academic divisions that come together to share, learn, make friends, challenge one another, and exchange views and ideas about what is possible.

Have questions? The Office of Scholar Programs compiled a few FAQs on its website. You can also encourage your students to register for our upcoming Signature Scholars Webinar on Dec. 9 to learn more.

To get started, have your students follow these steps:1. Apply for admission to the Class of 2025 via the Common Application or

the Coalition Application. They will not be eligible to apply for additional merit-based scholarships until they submit the application.

2. Now its time to apply for the Signature Scholar Programs! Your students can complete individual applications for these programs, found in the WashU Pathway. Encourage your students to check the Pathway often, as it also details the status of their application for admission.

Please note that these are separate from the division-based merit scholarships, which do not require an additional application. To be considered for need-based financial aid, your students will need to complete the FASFA and CSS Profile. More information about our financial aid and scholarship offerings can be found on our website.

Vitalant, formerly LifeBlood, is offering scholarships this year for up to $1000 per student.  But the deadline is February 28, 2021.  Thus, there’s a sense of urgency to get the word out.  Perhaps you have a way to help spread the word through family and friends, co-workers, schools and/or school groups, youth organizations, faith communities, businesses, nonprofits, and social media.  Personally, I’d love to see us award at least 50 scholarships…however, the truth is…there is no limit to the number we can award.  The students do, however, have to “earn” the scholarship.  Below are some highlights, and I’m attaching the full scholarship guidelines…or those interested can visit vitalant.org/scholarship.

Eligibility and Highlights Student leaders from high schools, colleges and trade schools.  They need to be enrolled in or

have been accepted to a post-secondary certificate or degree program within the U.S. For high school students they must be a graduating senior…and the leadership they demonstrate

with their virtual blood drive may also help them on their community service status at school. Scholarships are non-transferable and this one-time scholarship program is not associated with

other Vitalant scholarship programs or promotions. They must register at vitalant.org/scholarship, where they can learn more about the rules,

including how they will be expected to organize a virtual blood drive. The more credits they earn through their blood drive, the more scholarship dollars they earn, up

to $1000. Students earn 3 credits for a donation of convalescent plasma, 2 credits for power red, platelets

and plasma and 1 credit for whole blood. Local Vitalant Donor Recruitment Representatives will be available to provide guidance to

students who register, but they must register on the website. Scholarships are paid to the institution not to the individual.

Increasing Donors for Memphis The number one thing Vitalant wants to accomplish to ensure our community has a safe and

sustainable blood supply is rebuilding our base of people willing to donate blood. Since 30% of our local blood donations come from high school and college students, this is a

terrific way for Vitalant to thank students who organize blood drives and create turnout. Remember, 1 donation can save up to 3 lives.
