By the time you are reading this letter, summer will be winding down and we will be looking forward to another busy fall season at Bear Paw. We both hope you had a great summer and are looking forward to lots of sewing time as the weather changes.

BERNINA University was in Scottsdale Arizona this summer. It was fun and educational, but HOT! I have to say that after the hot summer we've had, we were pretty well acclimated! We were able to take a lot of great classes including classes on both the long arm and the sit down quilting machines. We love how they stitch and all the great exclusive features. They are available to test drive so come on in and try them out.

NEW FOR FALL FROM BERNINA! New Red 530! New B 570 QE! The new 5 series quilter's addition will be available in October with a large touch screen, BERNINA'S precision CB hook and embroidery compatibility. Keep an eye out for these new machines arriving at Bear Paw.

We are happy to have two new staff members to our team at Bear Paw. Please join us in welcoming Shirley and Bonnita to our great service team! We are always looking for ways to best serve your sewing and quilting needs.

QUILTER’S CUT -N-PRESS $25Tuesday, Oct 7 6:00-7:30

Create a small, portable classroom tool featuring a small cutting mat, a pressing surface, and a design “wall”. Jean Anne Sharrai will show you how to personalize this no-sew project by choosing a fun fabric and rick-rack to match. She will also provide the “hard, soft and sticky stuff” supplies needed. Want to make a quilt, but don’t know how to get started? This is a great class for beginners or for those looking to improve their basic skills. Learn all the tips and techniques as you make a six block sampler. Michele Sorenson will guide you through all the steps needed to create your own quilt, beginning with fabric selection and rotary cutting all the way through borders, batting & binding. Come on baby……let’s do the “twister-er”! No more templates, no more tracing, no more hassle creating interlocking pinwheel blocks. This project is charm pack friendly and tons of fun. Jean Anne Sharrai will explain: Class #1 features instruction on design and piecing, Class #2 features cutting and stitching pinwheels (homework in between classes). Pattern is included with required ruler. (Comfortable beginner)

VINYL PROJECT BAGS $20Saturday, Nov 21 10:30-1:30

These project bags are easy to make and can be made in any size. This part vinyl bag is a great way to carry your supplies back and forth to class and also a great way to present your next quilted gift. Val Wilson will also show you how to applique a name on it. Pattern is provided (Confident beginner)

WOOL APPLIQUE BASICS $25 Saturday, Sept 26 10:30-12:30

“Wool” you join Jean Anne Sharrai in this class to learn all the tips and tricks for working with her favorite natural fiber. Learn to transfer a pattern, play with threads, and practice applique stitches while you work on a little seasonal project. Project will be provided. (Beginner)

ZIG ZAG TABLE RUNNER $15 Friday, Nov 13 2:00-4:00

Make more of those 5-minute quilt blocks using this new technique! Flying Geese blocks are disguised in this cute and innovative style. Pat Proctor will show you how to make this table runner and more. Pattern booklet required (Confident beginner)


Class Policies

Class Policies• Class fee is due at the time of registration. Phone registration with

bank card payment only.• A 10% discount is given on supplies & fabrics for the class.• NO CELL PHONES IN CLASSROOM - if expecting an important call,

please set phone to vibrate and take call out of the classroom.• In consideration of others, please arrange to leave children and

pets at home.• Smaller classes may be held upstairs in our 2nd classroom. Please

inform our staff at time of registration if the stairs present a problem.

Cancellation:• 7 days notice required for refund or transfer to another class. (14

days notice for Special Guest Teachers as indicated in handout)• We make every effort to fill classes, but if class is cancelled we will

attempt to notify students one week in advance.

Class Supplies: • Please have supplies & fabric prepared per teacher’s supply list

along with specific class supplies bring a general sewing kit.• Sewing machine in good working order with 1/4” foot or mark• Pins & Pin cushion• Neutral thread and wound bobbins• Seam Ripper• Rotary cutter and mat• Fabric & Paper Scissors• Rulers – 6 x 24”or 6 x 12 (& 6 or 8” square)• Fabric Marker and a Pencil & Notebook
