The main purposes of the soft starter

Soft starter overviewAST1 series smart motor soft starter is new equipment based on the latest

motor control theory, proprietary motor protection technology and advancedsoftware technology. It's the ideal replacement of former starting equipmentsuch as star/delta transformation, auto transformer voltage reduction,and magnetic control voltage reduction, etc. Its performance is farbeyond that of most ordinary soft starters in the marketplace whichdo not include the intelligent starting control technology.

� Terminals 1, 2 are the bypass output: it's used to control the bypass

contactor,and it's the passive contacts that open normally, it closes

when start is done successfully. Output capacity, AC250V / 5A.

� Terminal 3, 4 are the programmable relay output: delay time is set

by parameter setting P4, and output moment is set by parameter

setting FE. It's the passive contacts that open normally, and it closes

when output is valid. as shown in the parameter Settings and

instructions. Passive contact capacity, AC250V / 5A

� Terminal 5, 6 is the fault output: It closes when soft starter has fault

or loses power. It opens when it works correctly, and it's the passive

contact. The contact capacity, AC250V / 0.3A.

� Terminal 7 is the instantaneous stop output: this terminal should be

linked with terminal 10 when soft starter works normally. If this link

between terminal and the terminal 10 is open, the soft starter stops

working unconditionally in a state of fault protection. This terminal

can be controlled by external protection device's output of a normally

closed contact. When setting parameter PA is set to 0 (primary

protection), the terminal's function is banned.

� Terminal 8,9,10 are the input terminals for external start and stop

control button. They can be connected on requirement. As shown in

figure 4.3.

� Terminal, 11, 12 are the current of 0-20Am analog AC output, which

used to monitor the motor's current. The instruction motor current is

the 4 times of the soft starter rated current when full to 20mA, then

can external connect 0 to 20MA AC ammeter to observate, the

maximum output load resistance is 300 Ω.

� External terminal connection shouldn't be wrong, otherwise may

cause the damage of soft starter.

Installation direction and clearance:To ensure soft starter has goodventilation and cooling conditions, thesoft starter should be installed vertically,and leave enough heat dissipation spacearound the equipment.When soft starter is installed in thecabinet, in addition to the aboverequirements, it also should choose thecabinet well-ventilated from top tobottom. 1. Parameter P7, maximum working current of is the maximum sustainable working current based on the calculation of PP setting number according to motor load .Inverse time

thermal protection will be functinoning when the current is over this value

2. If there is no button operation within 2 minutes ,it exits automatically from parameter programing status.

3. The parameters can not be set during soft start and soft stop,yet can be done under other conditions.

Fault code and Resolving methods

Note: some failure phenomenon is interlinked, such as report Err02 overload of soft starter is related to starting over current or load short circuit .Therefore,people should consider comprehensivelyto

identifythe failure point accuratelywhen theycheckfailures.

Note: when the soft starter starts the motor successfully, the indicator of running state is on , which is in the middle of panel, meaning it works in a bypass operation.If the bypass contactor is not closed,

causing the motor to stop , you should checkthe bypass contactor and related wiring to see if there is mistake or poor connection.

to enter the help menu and press plus and minus key to select the tip.
