Astrakhan
Astrakhan is a unique place of the Lower Volga and the Northern Caspian region, the biggest trading centre on the Great Volga way; Russia’s gates to the East. It is a city, combining strict classic European forms with inventive peculiarities of Eastern architecture.
<Astrakhan> can be translated from Greek as <The khan’ s star> or < The Star-city>. In different times it was also called Adjitarkhan, Ashtarkhan, Guitarkhan, Tsitarkhan.

• ASU is the biggest university in Astrakhan. It has 10 Departments or faculties: Sociology, Natural Science, Law, Economics, Foreign Language…… Our university consists of several buildings in different parts of the city. ASU provides accomodations for foreign students and students who live far from the city.
• We’re the students of foreign language faculty. Our faculty which is situated in the historical center of the city is very beautiful indeed. Our department has close relationships with European and Arabic countries, students from France, Germany, Iran, Turkey come to study on different exchange programs.

Recently, there appearced a new language in our department, Chinese. We are the first to study it. We came to Hainan University are on the exchange programm and hope our universities will become friends.
