What is Asthma?
Asthma is inflammation (swelling) of the airway passages that causes difficulty breathing.
It can cause the following symptoms:
Coughing Wheezing
Tightness in the chest Shortness of breath
What Triggers Asthma? There are many things that can cause an asthma attack to occur.
Triggers may not be the same for every person with asthma.
Pet Dander Exercise Pollen Insects
Chemical Fumes Cold Air Smoke
Pollution Stress
What Can I Do?
There are several ways you can manage your asthma. Avoiding triggers is a big part of preventing attacks, but there are other ways to prevent asthma attacks.
*Follow your doctor’s recommendation for medications –
Use them correctly and on-time!
*Report any changes in your response to medications (Do they work?)
*Don’t stop using the medications if you feel better –
You still need them to keep asthma attacks away!
*Moderate exercise has been shown to improve symptoms once your asthma is controlled by medication. Don’t avoid exercise all together, but talk to your
doctor to see what kind of exercise is best for you!
