ALV – ASSOCIATION OF THE AEROSPACEMANUFACTURERS OF THE CZECH REPUBLICTo promote the aerospace industry and to support variousactivities of particular companies a professional association was established in 1996 – the Association of the AerospaceManufacturers of the Czech Republic (ALV CR) – as anindependent association of legal entities involved in aerospaceactivities within the Czech Republic. Four years later the ALVbecame a full member of the former AECMA, the Europeanassociation of aviation industry, and after the AECMA mergedinto a new association – the ASD, the ALV has became an equalmember of the current AeroSpace and Defence IndustriesAssociation of Europe.At this time the ALV CR has 35 members with approximately 7 500 employees. In 2012 the Light Aircraft Association (LAACR) has became an associated member of the ALV with theintention to strengthen the support of common interests.

The main objectives of the ALV ČR• to promote and protect the interests of the Czech aerospace

industry;• to collaborate with governmental authorities and other

associations on conceptual issues, including cooperationprogrammes;

• to provide scientific and technical counselling;• to promote and develop international co-operation within EU

and other intergovernmental organizations;• to support the export of Czech aerospace industry products;• to represent Czech aerospace companies in negotiations with

trade unions.

• Integrated Space Vehicle Health ManagementHoneywell’s cutting-edge Integrated Vehicle HealthManagement (IVHM) system captures and integrates theintelligence and expertise of engineers who design and buildsystems and subsystems for spacecraft. Not only will IVHMhouse a comprehensive database, it also will function asa “brain” that can analyze total-vehicle data, diagnoseproblems, recommend corrective actions, and verify return-to-health data. It’s like having rocket scientists on hand aroundthe clock to ensure spacecraft stay healthy and achievemission success.

• Control Moment GyrosHoneywell is the world’s largest supplier of control momentgyroscopes (CMGs). Our CMGs, with both single and double-gimbal configurations available, are reliable solutions fora variety of momentum control applications.Their high output torque provides satellites with rapid,precision, pointing and tracking maneuvers.

• Reaction and Momentum WheelsHoneywell’s reaction wheel assemblies (RWA) andmomentum wheel assemblies (MWA) are reliable, lightweightsolutions to a variety of momentum control needs, providingstability and attitude-control for small to very large, heavyspacecraft. Earth-pointing satellites and multiple-satellitecommunication networks are examples of applications thatrequire the fine attitude control that Honeywell RWAsprovide.RWAs and MWAs from Honeywell have accumulated morethan 9 million hours, or more than a thousand years, in spaceand have never caused a mission to end prematurely.

• Momentum Control SystemsIntegration of Control Moment Gyros (CMGs) and ReactionWheels Assemblies (RWAs) into turn-key integratedmomentum systems are providing improved performance andlower weight and enable reduced spacecraft.

• Vibration IsolationSpacecraft structures are unlike any other. They demandcomplex solutions to reduce the launch loads and on-orbit-induced vibration, thus improving system performance.Honeywell has extensive experience in isolating completesatellites from launch vibration, and in reducing on-orbitdisturbances from the bus, the payload, and the momentumcontrol system. Utilizing this experience and a dedicateddevelopment laboratory, Honeywell has the expertise tosupport satellite designs with structural control, leading toa high probability of mission success, regardless of thespacecraft challenge presented.

• Microelectronics & Platform Systems Honeywell’s radiation hardened electronics and radiationtechnology provide military aerospace system designersa strategically hardened family of products to reduce risks inspace and ensure mission success.

ProjectsHoneywell Aerospace has participated in a range of R&Dprojects including:• ESA – ARTES 10

Iris-ANTARES (AeroNauTicAl REsources Satellite based)• ESA – ARTES 5.1

ESPRIT (Emerging System Concepts for unmanned aircraftsystem command & control via satellite)
