Associaon Missionary Thoughts During the month of January, I had the op- portunity to fill the pulpit for a couple of our Savannah Baptist Pastors that became ill. I either received a call or text either on Satur- day night or early Sunday morning asking if I could fill in. Of course, my answer was “Yes”. I love to preach and it is always an honor to fill in at one of our Savannah Baptist Associa- tion Churches. It reminds me of the scripture that tells us to “Preach the Word; be instant in season, out of season” (2 Tim. 4: 2). We all should be ready to share the Word of God. We are called to do so and an honor to share His Word. We should all be ready at a moment’s notice to proclaim the precious Word of God. I hope when the call or text comes, we will be ready. Do remember that February 14 th is Valentine’s Day. It is the special day of the year when the most flowers and chocolates are purchased. It is a day to tell and show someone how much they mean to you. (Men: don’t for- get.) Also on Thursday, February 21 st at Immanuel Baptist Church will be our WMU Banquet. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a wonderful meal and then we will be blessed to hear from Rebecca Hampton from the Cowboy Church in Jerusalem. I would like to encourage all of our Savannah Baptist Association Churches to attend. You can purchase your tickets from Janet Bell at the Association office. Work is still proceeding at the Savannah Baptist As- sembly. Please pray that we will be able to complete all the construction projects by spring. We truly would like to be ready for the summer season. We have been having great turnouts for our Monday Minister’s Meetings. Each Monday we have a great time of fellowship and prayer. I want to encourage each pas- tor to try to attend. I believe you will be blessed. Thank you all for allowing us to serve you. Janet, Con- nie and I are truly blessed and honored to serve the Lord Jesus Christ by serving His churches. Serving Him Together, Buddy Wasson Association Missionary [email protected] Assembly News My wife Amber and I stepped out onto our porch late on one night recently to look at the moon and wind down from a long day when we were greeted with a pleasant sound… laughter, conversation, and guitar music being played and sung around a campfire. If I had to sum up what that sound was, I’d describe it as the sound of Assembly guests engaged in fellowship! In that one moment, I heard believers who had pulled away from the busyness of their day-to-day to retreat, to worship the Lord, encour- age one another, grow closer to God and closer to each other. Yes, your Savannah Baptist Assembly is up and running again – praise the Lord! We’ve already been able to welcome several great groups in the first month of 2019 and reservations are coming in for the rest of the year (the only group missing is yours – ha!). In the meantime, we’re continuing to work to make improvements on the property, including continued work on our new bathhouses that accompany the four new cabins. We currently have space for up to 55 overnight guests at a time and these new cabins/bathhouses will provide space for another 32 guests. We are so grateful for your continued prayer and support as God is shaping this powerful ministry to be your first choice for rest, recrea- tion, reflection, and renewal for years to come. Here are six opportunities for you to help further the ministry of the Assembly: Allow me to come and share with your church the purpose and possibilities for ministry. Add the ongoing ministry of the Assembly to your church’s prayer list. Prayerfully consider financially supporting us over and above your associational giving with a dedicated one-time or monthly offering to the Assembly. Plan a site visit to check out what’s new since the last time you visited. Schedule a workday for your church or group to come and help make the most of this resource. Reserve the Assembly for an upcoming camp, conference, re- treat, picnic, camping trip, or other gathering. Regardless of how you choose to engage, remember that the Assem- bly is a prime Kingdom resource that God has entrusted to us as Sa- vannah Baptists. I look forward to welcoming you here soon so I can again hear the “sounds of fellowship” echoing through the trees! Rev. The great majority are lonely at this time, having signed contracts for 4, 6, 8 months aboard ship until returning home for a break that allows them to catch up and renew rela- tionships. I gave away some 130 ditty bags this season thanks to you who provided so many nice items for seafarers. Most everyone enjoys receiving a gift: the surprise, the affir- mation of being loved, and not forgotten while away from home. Inside each bag of useful personal care items is also a tract telling of the birth of Jesus, the Savior, and a 2019 wallet calendar with the basics of the gospel. I want to give a big shout-out to the GAs/RAs in Higher Ground BC led by Jane Sinopoli for their diligence in preparing some 25 ditty bags this November plus a donation to reach seafarers with a gift and the joyful news of Jesus. And to Larry Carver’s SS class in FBC Rincon, who assembled 50 ditty bags for seafarers in December as their special gift to Jesus at Christmas.
