teach our students sportsmanship, responsibility and
tolerance. Please discuss with your child that bad
behavior of any kind is not tolerated. Thank you!*
Students are welcome in the library to read, to do
research and to work on group projects. Students are
required to do their work and not socialize.

A quiet space is provided for students to do their homework
with the assistance of instructors. WHEN A STUDENT IS
FINISHED WITH THEIR WORK, THEY WILL BE
DISMISSED. STUDENTS WHO DO NOT HAVE HOMEWORK
MAY NOT ATTEND.
Tuesday and Thursday, 3:15 – until homework is completed,
but not later than 4:15 p.m. 9/17/19– 5/28/20

ART WITH THE JEWISH MUSUEM –Priority to 8th grade
students. Special focus in this class will be on creating an
advanced portfolio. We will investigate representations of
the human form using images from the Jewish Museum’s
collection using specialized sculpting techniques. The class
will be taught by Jewish Museum educator, Vinny
Stracquadanio.
(Through March 11, 16 students only)
Wednesdays from 3:15 – 5:00 p.m. 1/8/20 – 3/11/20
ART WITH THE JEWISH MUSUEM – Priority to 6th and 7th
grade students. This class is for students who wish to
explore new techniques in 2-D and 3-D materials including
sculpture, drawing, and painting. Students will use work in
Jewish Museum exhibitions, Edith Halpert and the Rise of
American Art and Rachel Feinstein: Maiden, Mother, Crone
and works of art in the Jewish Museum collection as
inspiration for their own artwork. The class will be taught by
Jewish Museum educator, Hollie Ecker.

Thursday, 3:15 – 5:00 p.m. 1/9/20 – 3/12/20
These classes are made possible by the Jewish Museum and
is supported by Councilmember Mark Levine through public
funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.
No fee
Students will rehearse jazz standards and improve their
improvisation skills in the “jazz combo” format. Open to
students with a higher level of proficiency on their
instrument. Wind instruments, percussionists, keyboard
players, guitarists, bassists and vocalists are welcome.

Students will be discovering and creating their own step-
dancing routines - a form of dance that uses the entire body
as a musical instrument to create sounds and beats using
hand claps, body slaps, and footsteps.

This club will give you the opportunity to work on your
soccer skills in our gym! Boys and Girls welcome.

In the Tabletop Games Club, we play a variety of different strategy, competitive, cooperative, and role-playing
games. We have a great selection of new and classic games. Some examples are of our selection are King of
Tokyo, Settlers of Catan, Munchkin, The Resistance, Codenames, Boss Monster, Werewolf, Jenga, Forbidden
Island, Clue, Pandemic, Gloom, and of course, Dungeons & Dragons. Come pull up a chair, grab some snacks, and let's
roll!

Want to learn famous dances from movies, music videos,
and Broadway musicals? In this club, you’ll learn a new
dance every session along with the technique behind the
moves. Stretch, strengthen, learn, and make new friends! All
dance levels welcome, including beginners. Bring a water
bottle, movement clothing, socks, and sneakers.

Join the school journal published three times a year! Create
editorials, articles, poetry, essays, photographs and
cartoons. Get published!

Members will meet every Wednesday to watch movies on the
big screen. Mr. Holden will introduce old and new movie
classics from Hollywood and around the world. New films
will be shown weekly (if time allows). Students are
encouraged to share their reactions at the end of each film
and to suggest future film for the club. Snacks will be
served.

This club is open to boys and girls, 12 years or older. Come try a new sport and learn to row at EngineRm Indoor
Rowing Club. Rowing is a lifelong, full body strength building, aerobic exercise, and most importantly, a great opportunity to build new friendships. The growth of the
sport of rowing is exploding with fantastic high school and college opportunities. For more information about rowing,
go to www.RowEngineRm.com. Fill out the “Dismissal Form” and remit with the registration form. Students must have a regular MetroCard for transportation! Ms. Orcher
will chaperone to La Palestra at 11 West 67th and students
will be dismissed on their own at 5:00 p.m. Students must have a regular/non-school MetroCard for the subway.

Advanced wind/brass/percussion musicians will learn,
rehearse, and listen to both traditional and modern
"Brass Band" music. We will target performances at
the student talent show and basketball games!

Chess brings all ages together! Chess teaches you how to
win and lose. Chess helps you realize the consequences of
your actions. It develops focus, creativity and is a great
confidence builder. Players of all levels are welcome. The
hope is that we can have a competitive team in the future!

The math team provides a venue in which students who
enjoy math can participate in a competitive manner with
other mathletes! Outside competitions are held during the
year.

7th and 8th grade students will create the school yearbook
under teacher supervision. Take photographs, sell
advertisements, create the look and content of the 2019
Booker T. yearbook!

Fee, $100 for one day $150 for two days
This club will allow students to form rock bands with fellow
students and select music to learn and rehearse. Time will
also be spent listening to and watching rock musicians over
the years. Students will have an opportunity to put a
performance together for the spring talent show. Students
must have at least beginner knowledge of one of the
following instruments: guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard,
or vocals.

this club is right for you.

This club is under the auspices of the NYC Urban Debate
League, the largest middle school debate league in the
nations. Each month we host a parliamentary forum debate
tournament that students can attend on a Saturday or a
Sunday. Attendance is not required for tournaments to join
this club.

Open to all students playing strings, band or piano for
practice, coaching. This class is for anyone looking to get
extra practice time in for Band or Strings. Students may also
take the opportunity to try a different instrument. We have
one piano for practice shared on a first come, first serve
basis.

In this club, students will explore data types, variables,

In Ms. Kricorian’s next cycle art class, we will explore
different media including painting, drawing, printmaking,
using found and unconventional objects.
