Name : Nur Lina Izzati Binti Ruslan

    No ID : 87

    Group : 9 ( A )

    Material :Asal Eswedfilm

    Cultural aspect : Social activity

What can be expressed by the word CULTURE? Well, let's take the word "city" for example. We know what a city is but can we tell what a city is made of? A city is made of many, many things.

A city has materials like steel, cement, stones and bricks. A city has buildings, houses and streets. A

city has people. The people have CULTURE.

What are the cultural aspects of the city? As we learned, language, arts &sciences, thought,

spirituality, social activities and interactions are five major aspects that influence a certain culture

for place. Here I am honor to discuss about Egyptian culture due to several aspects as mention

above. As I am one of group A which responsible either for song, films, religious, cultural acts,

language or typical idioms, then I would like to opt forAsal Eswedfilm as my subject.

Asal Eswedtries to the best of its abilities to ponder the reasons holding the country (Egypt)

and their culture back. The storyline which about Egyptian American who returns to Egypt with

naive enthusiasm after twenty years abroad had made me exposed to countless Egyptian culture

through their lifestyle. In the midst of variety culture, the most fascinate me in showing differences

between Egyptian and Malaysian is how they celebrate Eid Mubarak.

Of course Malaysian having some similarities in how Egyptian celebrates this event such

family visits are considered a must on the first day of the Eid, but it is exciting to know that they

have the other two days to enjoy by going to parks, cinemas, theatres or the beaches. Some like to

go on tours or a Nile cruise, but Sharm El Sheikh is also considered a favorite spot for spending

holidays in Egypt. This completely contrasting with Malaysian as we usually congregate at

hometown instead going to parks and others.

The families gatherings involve cooking and eating all kinds of Egyptian food like Fata(rice,

bread and meat topped with tomato sauce), but the item most associated with Eid al-Fitr are Kahk,

which are cookies filled with nuts and covered with powdered sugar. Egyptians either bake it at

home or buy it in the bakery. For a lot of families from working neighborhoods, the Eid celebration

also means small mobile neighborhood rides, much like a neighborhood carnival. In a lot of

neighborhood courtyards, kids also gather around a storyteller, a puppeteer or a magician

mesmerized by Egyptian folktales or by a grownups sleight of hand. It is also customary for kids to

rent decorated bikes to ride around town.

This scene are completely shown inAsal Eswedwhen they are having picnic at Cairo

Central Park near Nile river after Eid prayer. It is stated that usually they will have the salted fish

which is left over for a long time until it get spoiled as special dish on that day. This manifest thedifferences how Egyptian enjoy their Eid with their own traditional food. We can reckon that this

event full of culture aspects especially in social activity and interaction. Egypt is like black honey-

sweet but black. This is what the title of the recent Egyptian movieAsal Eswed(black honey in

English) tries to say. Draw to a close, Egypt the country where you find anything and its

contradiction for instance the warmth, familiarity, and sense of humor of Egyptian people as part of

    its culture.
