Two-day training that goes into great design depth, applying solutions that draw on

guidance from ASHRAE standards and guidelines.

Course Topics

Designing, installing and maintaining HVAC systems; Applying ASHRAE Standard 55, Thermal Environmental Conditions for Human Occupancy, ASHRAE Standard 62.1, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality, and ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1, Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings; Using ASHRAE’s Advanced Energy Design Guides; Increasing energy savings while improving indoor environmental quality.

Resource Bonus: PDF copies of Standard 90.1-- $166 Value!

Course Objectives

• Design HVAC Systems to meet owners’ requirements

• Provide installation & maintenance guidance to meet design objectives

• Improve energy efficiency & IEQ through application of ASHRAE standards

• Achieve high performing building design objectives through application for various building types

HVAC Design Level II Applications: 21 and 22 November 2019, Lisbon

Demand for IT equipment that is lower cost, more energy efficient, provides more storage, and offers more computing capabilities results in continued, significant changes in hardware, and as a result center operating conditions. One-day course examines best practices by focusing on ASHRAE’s evolving thermal guidelines for today’s data processing, telecommunication, and actual high-density data centers. While there are opportunities to save energy in data centers, understanding of equipment trends and performance measurements are critical for data system integrity.

Course Topics

Load Growth, Data Center & IT Basics, Facilities Air Cooling Architecture, Thermal Guidelines, Liquid Cooling, Measurements, Hardware Basics and Trends, IT Equipment and Data Center Impact, Hardware Testing and Validation, Networking Equipment, Data Center Infrastructure Management, Low RH & Changes to IT Equipment, Environmental Envelopes, High RH Combined with Pollutants, CFD Modeling.

Resource Bonus: PDF copies of “Thermal Guidelines for Data Processing

Environments” and “IT Equipment Design Impact on Data Center Solutions” -- $140

Course Objectives

• Understand the impact of changing IT equipment

• Learn to maintain of data center environments

• Properly design for increased power requirements & heat dissipated by current equipment

• Know best practices for energy efficiency in actual high-density data centers

• Understand equipment environment specifications

• Learn methods for measuring performance

• Evaluate effectiveness of data center cooling

• Use energy modeling tools

ASHRAE Training in Europe

Training in Lisbon: ASHRAE Guidance Blended with European Practice The greatest challenge facing engineering firms and building owners is maintaining a work force that

understands the fundamentals of HVAC design and that is current with the application of new technologies. This November, ASHRAE Learning Institute offers several training opportunities in Europe

The Instructor Team: Practical Experience with Instructional Capability

Instructor teams are from Design Practice and Industry selected for, “hands on” experience, instructional capability, and knowledge of European requirements.

Charlie Henck, P.E., Fellow/Life Member ASHRAE, LEED® AP, designed and renovated healthcare systems, office buildings, laboratories, and data centers during a 40 plus year career with a consulting engineering firm in the US. Henck wrote, edited, and revised portions of ASHRAE Laboratory Design Guide, Second Edition, with a focus on air treatment. He will instruct HVAC Design Level I in Dublin and London and Level II in Lisbon.

José Luís Alexandre, Ph.D., Member ASHRAE, currently works at the Departamento de Engenharia Mecânica, University of Porto, Portugal. His most recent publication is 'Energy Certification Label vs. Passive Discomfort Index for existing dwellings'. He will instruct Level II in Lisbon.

Paul Finch, Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Member ASHRAE, is COO at Kao Data in London, England. He is data center senior executive who provides strategic direction, ingenuity and leadership in the creation and delivery of digital infrastructure platforms. He will instruct the Data Center Course in Lisbon.

Mark Seymour, chartered member of the Society for the Environment and member of ASHRAE, is CTO and founder of Future Facilities, London, England. He has more than 35 years of simulation and measurement experience and over 25 applied to building HVAC. He provides CFD engineering simulation services specially designed for Data Centers. He will instruct the Data Center Course in Lisbon.

Upon completion of training, attendees receive a certificate of attendance. ASHRAE is an approved

Continuing Education provider for the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and a USGBC

Education Partner. Professional Development hours earned from ASHRAE courses, may be applied

towards many professional certification programs, including ASHRAE and for maintenance of LEED

professional credentials.
