Ashdown Forest Mini Explorers a monthly wildlife group for children 2 - 5 yrs and their carers. 21st January, 18th February, 18th March, 15th April, 20th May, 17th June, 15th July, 19th August, 16th September, 21st October, 18th November, 16th December 10am – 11.30am Join us to get outside and explore the wonderful wildlife of the Ashdown Forest with a short walk, seasonal craft and outdoor games. A small snack will be included. Indoor space available when the weather is very cold or wet. Booking required. £5 per family per session. Ashdown Forest Big Draw (C) Sunday 6th Oct 11am- 3pm

Be inspired by the Ashdown Forest to doodle, scribble sketch or paint . All artwork will become part of a community exhibition in the Forest Information Centre.

Suitable for all abilities. No booking required.

Wreath Making Workshops (F and A) Sunday 8th December 10.30am– 12.30pm (F) 2pm - 4pm (A)

Come and make a beautiful rustic wreath for your Christmas celebrations. It will involve a short collecting walk and an indoor making session. Includes a hot drink.

Booking required. £25 per family (am) or £20 per person (pm)

The Landscape of Winnie the Pooh (A) Monday 24th June

11am - 1pm The Ashdown Forest was the inspirational setting for the Winnie the Pooh stories. This walk explores how AA Milne

wove the essence of the landscape into these best loved books. It includes read excerpts and a little natural history.

(3km) Booking required. £5 per person.

Sheep Shearing and Wool Craft (C) Sunday 30th June

11am – 4pm See sheep from the Ashdown Forest conservation flock being sheared. Find out why they are so important for the

wildlife of the Forest. Spinners, weavers, dyers and felt makers will display and demonstrate their craft. Drop in craft activities for children and adults. There will be a small

charge for some activities. No booking required.

Family Winnie the Pooh Walk (F) Wednesday 31st July 10am - 12noon Make Eeyore a new home and join in other fun activities as

we follow in Winnie the Pooh’s footsteps across the Ashdown Forest. (2km) Booking required. £10 per family.

Family Environmental Art Day (F) Tuesday 6th August 10.30am - 3pm

Join the Ashdown Forest Education Team and artists from

So Sussex for a fun day exploring insects through outdoor art and wild creations. Booking required. £10 per child.

Archaeology Walk (A) Tuesday 17th September

11am - 1pm The lumps, bumps, pits and ditches we see in the landscape can reveal its history. Learn about Ashdown

Forest’s past on this leisurely walk through heath and woodland. Part of the High Weald Walking Festival. (3 km)

Booking required. Free event, donations welcome. Meet Lintons Car Park.

Birds and Their Nests - Family Trail (F) 6th - 22nd April

11am - 4 pm Follow a trail to discover more about birds and their nests whilst exploring the Forest Centre Garden.

No booking required. £5 per family.

Calling in the Birds © Sunday 5th May 3pm - 5pm Join us for a summer celebration welcoming the

migratory birds back to Sussex and the Ashdown Forest. Listen to the story of their epic journeys and toast their arrival after a short walk across the Forest. (1km )
