WORLD YOUTH DAY, Krakow, Poland 2016!

Only 8 days...until 50 of our diocesan youth will board the bus to World Youth Day in Krakow! During the two week trip the youth will spend time with Polish families, enjoy cultural exchanges, inspirational talks and workshops, fun and friendship along with celebrating their faith in the presence of Pope Francis. Check out dioceseofmeath.ie/youth, Facebook Meath Diocese WYD 2016 and Instagram Meath

Diocese WYD 2016 for updates from Poland.

We wish Owen Delaney, Ashbourne and all the pilgrims every blessing as they prepare for their pilgrimage.

This year the theme, ‘Blessed are the merciful’, will guide the speakers, the music and Pope Francis’ messages. In a message preparing for the trip to Krakow, Francis spoke of his life changing experience at the age of 17 in the confessional and concluded that, ‘when we open our hearts with humility and transparency, we can contemplate God’s mercy in a very concrete way.’

Collections

Ashbourne Plate €1,230; Donaghmore Plate €210; Parish Fund €790. Míle Buíochas

We thank all who continue to financially support our Parish.

SACRAMENT OF CONFESSION

Having reviewed current arrangements for the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the Parish, the schedule for confessions has been revised. Confessions on Wednesday evenings 6-7pm will cease with immediate effect and will be replaced with confessions on the First Friday of each month, 7-8pm. It is hoped this revised time will enable more people to avail of the Sacrament of Mercy. Confessions will continue after 10am Mass on Saturday mornings.

Please note: confessions are always available on request.

This proposed change to the First Friday will assist those wishing to practice the First Friday Devotions.

FIRST FRIDAY DEVOTION

The First Friday Devotions are a set of Catholic devotions which honour the Sacred Heart of Jesus and through it offers reparation for sin. In the visions of Christ reported by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (17th Century), several promises were made to those who practised the First Friday Devotion:

1. I will give them all of the graces necessary for their state of life.

2. I will establish peace in their houses.

3. I will comfort them in all their afflictions.

4. I will be their strength during life and above all during death.

5. I will bestow a large blessing upon all their undertakings.

6. Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy.

7. Tepid souls shall grow fervent.

8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.

9. I will bless every place where a picture of my heart shall be set up and honoured.

10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.

11. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out.

12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who shall receive communion on the First Friday in nine consecutive months the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving their sacraments; My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment

On the days of the First Friday, a person is to attend Holy Mass and receive Holy Communion. A person should also make use of the Sacrament of Penance.
