A Little Bit of History

In the early 1980s Wilmington Cab Company purchased Long Beach Dia-

mond Cab. Soon thereafter, Diamond Cab’s name was changed to Long Beach Yel-

low Cab. The City of Long Beach has never been happier with its taxicab service

since. As a direct result, Long Beach Yellow Cab has obtained a contract with the

City of Signal Hill and is licensed to operate taxicabs in Lakewood.

Mitchell Rouse, who heads the organization’s management team, is the third

generation in the business, following his father before him, and his father’s uncle

before that. Today, William J. Rouse, the fourth generation in the business, is the

organization’s General Manager.

Administrative Services Cooperative, Inc. (ASC) was formed to manage and

provide common services for its member fleets, which in addition to Long Beach Yellow Cab are United Checker Cab,

South Bay Yellow Cab, Yellow Cab of Los Angeles and Fiesta Taxi. These fleets together total 1,175 vehicles and make

up the largest taxicab organization in the western United States.
