At the conclusion of the Meeting we all enjoyed a wonderful B.B.Q. Thanks to everyone who helped out with that. As your New President I look forward to working with our great Board of Directors and all the members of the Aurora Seniors Centre. I want to encourage all members of the Centre to communicate any issues, concerns, suggestions or ideas they have with either myself or any member of the Board. We are all very approachable and want to hear from you. You can also express your opinions using the “Let us Know” form located at the front desk. All members of the ASA are welcome to attend our Board Meetings held the third Monday of each month at 1 p.m. The focus of our Board and the Association is to make each of your visits to the ASC a rewarding one and to ensure a friendly and collaborative atmosphere. We like to think we are the best Seniors Association in Ontario. Last, but most certainly not least, I want to thank all the Volunteers. We would not have the wonderful Association we have without them. I also want to thank the Town Staff for all their hard and dedicated work. Dave.

Knotty Knitters A warm welcome to the Knotty Knitters. We are at the Seniors Centre from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Mondays throughout the year. It’s summer, the time of Brides and Wedding showers. Perhaps you were pondering on what to give to a bride-to-be? Maybe a shawl to ward off those still chilly summer nights? Or perhaps dish cloths. Can never have enough of those!! We knit, embroider, crochet, laugh, exchange jokes and share family happenings. We have lots of camaraderie. If we run into a problem on a project we help each other out. Beginners are also quite welcome. Stop in and have a peek at what the Knotty Knitters have been up to this past year. We even knit coats for our four legged friends!! The hugs and smiles are always free and lasting friendships are formed. So feel free to stop in at any time and stay for a look and a chat. If you see something one of the Knotty Knitters is making and wish to purchase it you can do so as well. All proceeds go back into the Centre. We love to talk. If you wish to join us, please do so. You will be more than welcome. Remember we are not strangers only Friends you have not yet met.

Walking Group Walks are held on Wednesday mornings and are about an hour in length. All walks are on trails in and around Aurora. The terrain may be hilly (as is much of Aurora) and participants should wear appropriate clothing and footwear. We meet each week in the Seniors Centre Lounge and car pool to the starting location, if necessary. No pre-registration is required, just show up. We are always looking for eager members to walk with us, and the Summer is a beautiful time to get out and get moving. So, come out and join us. The location of each week’s walk will be determined by the Walkers present on each Wednesday morning.

Joan Brownlow, Director: [email protected] Paul Wells, Producer: [email protected] We are also in need of two more people (male or female) for roles in Snow White. Rehearsals start on Thursday, Sept. 6 and continue on Mondays at 3:30 p.m. and Thursdays at 4 p.m.

Evergreen Choir The members of the Evergreen Choir repeated their Spring Concert, “With a Joyful Song” for the residents at Park Place on Wednesday, June 20. This was a unique performance because not only did it mark the end of the 2017/2018 year for the choir, but also the last concert that Dr. Richard Heinzle would conduct as the director of the Evergreens.

Dr. Heinzle has accepted a position with a college situated in the Barry’s Bay area. He is a talented musician and has offered his knowledge and experience to our choir over the past eight years. He has always been popular and much appreciated by our members for his love of music. The choir showed this regard by singing to him “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow” at the end of the concert. We wish him happiness and success in his new endeavour. On Tuesday evening, June 26, the Evergreen celebrated the end of the season, as is our custom, with a Potluck Supper. We wish you all a happy and healthy summer. See you in September.
