SECTOR PROJECT GRANTS
Aims to support excellence in the arts by providing one-offfunding for professional development opportunities and the
development and presentation of creative work.
The program supports high quality, innovative and feasibleapplications that respond
to the aims of the program and the priorities of the QueenslandArts Industry Sector
Development Plan 2007–2009 (Sector Plan).
Applications that identify how thegovernment investment will be supplemented by partners and
other sources of revenuewill be well regarded.
Our aim is to support activities and projects that have a significantimpact on the depth of artistic quality and practice, on increasing
audiences and revenue,and on the scale and financial viability of your work.
ELIGIBILITY
General:• one application per funding round• must have satisfactorily acquitted any overdue Arts Queensland grants (This also applies toaccountable representatives of a group, collective or cooperative who have received an ArtsQueensland grant.)•Creative businesses can apply for funding for projects that are enhancements of their coreoperations, provided the funding does not go towards operational costs.
Ineligible projects and activities:• Activities that will form part of an academic assessment process.• Projects involving schools or other training providers unless the project forms part of a broadercommunity cultural engagement process or is part of a Career Development project.• Amateur activities unless they are to pay professional artists or arts workers to help amateurparticipants to develop their skills and raise the standard of artistic and/or cultural practice.•Projects including capital equipment purchases unless the applicant demonstrates the purchasesare directly related to the project outcomes, the equipment will be available for community use oncompletion, and the applicant will contribute at least 50 per cent of the cost of buying theequipment.• Costs for the organising and running of artistic competitions or fundraising activities .• Activities that are the jurisdiction of a specialist funding body (for example, the Pacific Film andTelevision Commission for filmmaking).
Career Development GrantSupport professional development activities that help individualpractitioners to advance their own career, develop their practiceand provide significant benefits to the sector.
Open only to individuals for funding up to $5,000No closing date – allow 5-8 weeks for applications to beassessed
Proposals should represent a significant career milestone inrelation to your past career achievements and future plans, anddemonstrate the potential for high-quality artistic and/or culturaloutcomes.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT FUNDINGFOR INDIVIDUALS
1. Artistic and/or cultural merit and innovation
2. Extent of opportunity in relation to the applicant’s experience, pastprofessional development and potential for career advancement.
3. After a successful application has been acquitted, future applicationsunder this program will need to provide compelling evidence that futuregrant would deliver significant career, artistic, cultural, commercial orpublic benefits over and above that funded in previous rounds
4. For applications that include travel expenses, priority will be given tosupport for international activities, domestic travel will be considered

To present a paper at the 2007 Social Theory, Politics and the Arts(STPA) Conference, New York focusing in particular on Queensland’sinnovation in library services – specifically the State Library ofQueensland by showcasing the progress and development of the StateLibrary.
Lisa Teone Reinthal - $5000
The grant funding was for costs towards the production, in consultationwith Access Arts and the Islamic Women's Council (Brisbane), a pilotdocumentary of 'Salaam' promoting awareness of the diversity of cross-cultural influences in the arts of women in Islam.

Open to individuals, groups, organisations applying for funding for up to $50,000For an individual proposal that focuses on support for your individual arts practice, grants will
usually not exceed $20,000.
Closing Dates:30 April (for projects starting after 1 August 2008)31 August (for projects starting after 1 January 2009)
Please Note:• Applicants requesting over $30,000 must speak with an Arts Development Officer to
discuss their proposal• Projects must satisfy the aims of the category PLUS the relevant artform goals
Development and Presentation Grants support projects that will result inexcellent and innovative artistic and/or cultural work with a public outcome,deliver community benefits including opportunities for engagement andparticipation, and involve collaboration with other artists, organisations andbusinesses.

CREATIVE COMMUNITIES GOALS
All eligible applications will be considered for funding, but thefollowing focus areas have been identified for 2008.
• People and Place Initiative — supports proposals that engage communities to beactive in arts and cultural activities.Projects could involve connecting people with their community, fostering andstrengthening arts and cultural partnerships, building the unique cultural identity of thecommunity or fostering a legacy through the recording and sharing of distinctlyQueensland stories.Applications are encouraged from arts workers, cultural workers, the collections sectorand local government authorities Priority will be given to projects that:
• Demonstrate genuine community support• Celebrate and/or are inclusive of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and/or
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities• Focus on children and young people• Engage communities in arts and cultural activities
As an indicative guide, you can apply for up to $10,000 to participate in an Australianevent or up to $15,000 to participate in an international event.

Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District - $2990To produce Authors@your Local Library, free open information sessions presented showcasingestablished Australian children authors for information sharing with aspiring writers and illustrators.This event is an extension project attached to the annual Voices on the Coast - Youth LiteratureFestival.
Owirapoon Ya'Gno Wakai TSI Corporation - $30,000To conduct a four day youth forum in the Northern Peninsular Area engaging with local communityartists in skills development workshops with local youth and showcasing the skills developedthrough public exhibitions.
Thuringowa City Council – $14,040To develop a cross-cultural artist in residency project facilitated by international artist Alwin Ramillo.The project is a collaboration with local youth, artists, indigenous and multicultural groups totransform local stories into a contemporary installation for exhibition at the Pinnacles Gallery.

OUTCOME REPORTS
Applicants who receive a grant are required tosubmit an Outcome Report within four weeks ofthe end of their project.
Applicants with grants that have overdue outcomereports or who have not satisfactorily acquitted aprevious grant, will be ineligible for furtherassistance.
