visual Art and CultureNorman Rockwell’s America at Birmingham Museum of Art (Sep-

tember 16-January 6). This fall, the Birmingham Museum of Art will host Norman Rockwell’s America, an in-depth look at the life and work of America’s favorite illustrator. Rockwell’s six-decade career coincided with one of the most eventful periods in American history, spanning four wars, the Great Depression, the space race, and the Civil Rights Movement, all vividly depicted in his work. The exhibition includes 52 original paintings and drawings, and all 323 Saturday Evening Post covers Rockwell created between 1916 and 1963.

49th Annual Bluff Park Art Show at Bluff Park Community Center. Always on the first Saturday in October, the show draws more than 140 artists from across the country to exhibit and sell their art. 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Free.

From art to music to festivals, hoover has put great emphasis on the arts as a great addition to the city’s wonderful quality of life. The prestigious bluff Park Art Show is held each year on the first Saturday in October. The show began as a fund raising event first held in 1963, and has grown to include over 125 artists.
