WORK EXPERIENCE
July 2014 to Current Broward County Fort Lauderdale, FLSr. Code Enforcement Officer
All duties of Code Enforcement Officer. Represent Broward County in legal
proceedings resulting in binding orders for penalties, fines, fees, and/or liens
if violations are not corrected. Case management for programs including
registration of residential rental housing, prohibited land use / zoning
violations, and illegal dumping. Project lead for interagency compilation
of code enforcement, certificate of use/zoning and land use, occupancy, lien,
and ownership data. Collaborate with management and industry experts to
recommend and implement continuous process improvement.
Participate in strategic planning sessions. Facilitate the abatement of
nuisance violations so as to protect the health, safety and welfare of
natural and economic life of the community: partner with law
enforcement to vacate and secure vacant properties used for drugs and other
criminal activity, motivate property owners (local and absent) to engage in
practices consistent with being a good neighbor. Independently create
coalitions with regulatory agencies that enhance and support
enforcement of local municipal ordinances.
2006 to May 2014 City of Fort Lauderdale Fort Lauderdale, FLCode Compliance Officer
Served the property owners, residents, entrepreneurs, and community leaders
by way of interpreting and enforcing the municipal ordinances for
residential and commercial properties in a manner that protected the health,
safety, and economic welfare of the community; educated the same of the
City’s housing, zoning, and business codes / regulations in a manner that was
professional, courteous, and comprehensive. Direction and guidance
provided to achieve compliance of violations in the most blighted urban
residential and business neighborhoods which resulted in significant
improvement of neglected occupied and vacant properties. My Participation
on multiple sweeps with police and Broward County resulted in the
correction of serious violations including improperly licensed businesses
and business activity having a negative impact on the safety of the community.
Represented the City of Fort Lauderdale at Special Magistrate Hearings
which required independent case management of property case files
and contact information, proof of due diligence and due process, and
extensive research of property ownership and mortgage documents. I
maintained positive relationships with owners, residents, and
businesses.
