• The body contains millions of bacteria
• There are both good and bad bacteria
• Everyday new bacteria comes into your body
Problem/Purpose/Problem/Purpose/HypothesisHypothesis
• Problem: Which soap will best clean bacteria from our water bottles?
• Purpose: We were trying to find out if it is safe to reuse our water bottles, and if it is, which soap will clean the water bottles best before we use them again.
• Hypothesis:If we clean the bottles with AB, OS and NW then the AB soap will grow the fewest bacteria.
Materials and Materials and ProceduresProcedures
Arrowhead water bottles Permanent marker Two large containers Anti-bacterial liquid soap Original scent liquid soap
Sterile swabs Measuring cup Agar Petri dishes Water
Materials and ProceduresMaterials and Procedures• Drink out of bottles four times a day for four days.
• Work in a sterile environment.
• Wash one third of bottles in Anti-bacterial soap, one third in original scent soap and the last third are not washed.
• Swab and plate bacteria from mouth of all water bottles.
• Watch and count bacteria growth for four days.
• Repeat experiment three times.

• 1st Experiment:– OS killed the most bacteria
• 2nd Experiment:– AB killed the most bacteria
• 3rd Experiment:– OS killed the most bacteria
ConclusionsConclusions
• Anti-bacterial soap does not prevent bacteria from growing like we had thought.
• Original scent dawn soap worked the best.
• Assigned number to TMTCs showed that not washing was the best at killing bacteria.
• Logically we think that washing the bottles will kill more bacteria then not.
Further QuestionsFurther Questions• Questions we still have are:
• What caused original scent soap to work better then anti-bacterial?
• Did the method in which we cleaned the bottle effect the results?
• What would happen if we used a different brand of soap?
• What if we used different drinks?
• Does the form that the soap comes in effect the results?
• What if the water bottle was glass or plastic?
