Architecture and Digital Theory MRes exploresdigital theory, history, and cultures, in all theirguises: from design and fabrication, to manyrelated fields and disciplines that are being affectedand transformed by the new digital paradigm.

 Degree summary 

Students on this programme gain an advanced understanding of thehistory, theory and criticism of computational design and fabrication.

// Conceived as a research laboratory, this programme offers a hybridpedagogical format where learning and experiments, inspired bytoday’s evolving design technologies, are conversant with the cultureof the design community, and informed by relevant recentscholarship in the arts and humanities.

// Students’ projects will be mentored by the programme’s leadinginstructors and by invited lecturers. Students will be encouraged topursue a curatorial or research topic leading to an actual exhibitionand/or publication.

// A new MA version of the programme is also being developed.Applicants interested in this mode should contact Teaching andLearning Officer Mrs Thea Heintz.

The programme is delivered through a combination of Informal andformal presentation to critics, lectures and seminars, face-to-face andemail tutorials. Assessment is through coursework, written papers andpublic presentations.

 Degree structure 

Mode: Full-time: 1 year; Part-time: 2 years; Flexible: 3-5 years

Location: London, Bloomsbury

Students undertake modules to the value of 180 credits. The programmeconsists of two core modules (60 credits), two optional modules (30credits) and a dissertation (90 credits).

 Entry requirements 

The normal minimum qualifications are an upper second-classBachelor's degree in architecture or an associated design disciplinefrom a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalentstandard.

English language proficiency level

If your education has not been conducted in the English language, youwill be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level ofEnglish proficiency.

The level of English language proficiency for this programme is:Standard.
