SOURCEThe M9000 has a range of sources from 12 Watt s LED to 400 Watt s HID. The largest of the M9000 Family, the M9800 Series, is the only in-grade fi xture in the industry to accept mogul and E40 base 400Watt HID lamps. As the most powerful in-grade light ever, the M9800 Series provides a new alternative for fl oodlighting architectural structures with in-grade concealment.

MODULAR FLOW-THROUGH TECHNOLOGYUtilizing technologies traditionally associated with underwater illumination, Hydrel’s M9000 series incorporates a modular design so impervious to water that it’s unnecessary to seal the rough-in section. Door and lens assemblies on all M9000s are easy to open and close, never need sealing, and are vented for convection cooling within the container. Lamp and power modules feature underwater rated plugs, rendering installation and maintenance simpler tasks. And because the junction box remains atmospheric in pressure, wicking of the moisture in exterior conduit is physically impossible.

DOUBLE LENS TECHNOLOGYA major challenge in the design of in-grade fi xtures is the removal of heat to protect components and provide lower lens temperatures. When the potential exists for direct human contact with lenses, care is required to protect pedestrians from injury. The M9000 Series double lens model creates an insulating layer of air circulating between two lenses to reduce heat by up to 50% when necessary. As with the use of all luminaires in pedestrian areas, Hydrel recommends that proper care be taken in the selection of luminaire location, lamp watt age and distribution, in order to minimize pedestrian risk.

CONVECTION COOLINGConventional sealed fi xtures depend only upon conduction and radiation for cooling. The M9000 Series improves on the convective cooling process by adding air-fl ow channels in the wall of the rough-in section. Air-fl ow channels greatly improve ambient air circulation around the power and lamp modules, delivering cool air deep into the rough-in section. Aft er cool ambient air draws heat away from the power and lamp modules, the warmed air escapes through door vents at the top of the rough-in section.

EASY AIMINGFixture aiming is a critical element to many projects and designers are concerned with the methods to accomplish it. Hydrel’s M9000 Series lamp modules can be aimed 15° from vertical and rotated 360°. The M9000 Series uses a mechanical aiming process. Aim-Lock® indexed and locking components allow maintenance and relamping to be accomplished without re-aiming.3

SOURCEFeaturing a 4” aperture, the PDX4 off ers 9 watt LED’s through 50 watt MR-16 sources, and is characterized by its minimal size and presence. Utilizing Hydrel’s 12 LED lighting engine, the PDX7 In-grade is a compact, high performance luminaire, and at 8 inches in depth is the shallowest fi xture able to accommodate lamps to 70W HID. With sources ranging from 22 watt s LED to 150 watt s HID, the PDX10 off ers DMX controlled dynamic color LED’s and the lumen package necessary to illuminate any architectural feature.

DOOR/LENS ASSEMBLYHydrel’s patent pending door design utilizes proven Knife-Edge technology to ensure a watertight seal. Captive door screws maintain aesthetic integrity and are designed to allow for positive sealing without the ability to damage the grommet through over tightening. By incorporating a custom molded lens design, the Paradox™ Architectural In-grade provides maximum aperture opening while maintaining a minimal footprint. For added safety, Hydrel off ers optional slip resistant and anti-slip lenses.

JUNCTION BOXHydrel’s patent pending junction box designs off er up to 51 cubic inches of volume for simpler installation and utilizes proven Knife-Edge technology to ensure a watertight seal. A single fastener makes installation 50% faster and ensures even compression at the gasket, off ering the highest protection against moisture intrusion for sealed in-grade technology.

The Paradox™ Architectural In-grade Cool Lens model (PDX7CL & PDX10CL) utilizes a combination brass top ring, heat sink, and refl ective secondary IR lens fi lter to reduce heat by 30% when necessary. As with the use of all luminaires in pedestrian areas, Hydrel recommends that the proper care be taken in the selection of luminaire location, lamp watt age and distribution, in order to minimize pedestrian risk.
