Artisans of the Valley - Architectural Elements Metalwork Artisans is launching a line of Architectureal Elements www.artiansofthevalley.com [email protected] 609-637-0450 Artisans of the Valley, based in Pennington, NJ, is an exclusive custom furniture, cabinetry, carving, and restoration shop. These craftsmen are the last of the traditional apprenticeship method of passing on the skills of furniture design, joynery, carving, and finishing. We offer our custom furniture by commission, and we hand sign and date each piece upon completion. For over 35 years Master Craftsman Stanley D. Saperstein has perfected his skills and in the process passed these skills to his son Eric. Eric has now taken the reins of the business, studio, and the title of Master Craftsman. 2009 is brining in a new Architectureal Elements product line. We have 5,000 patterns to select from, available in oak, maple, or cherry from stock or in almost any material by special order. We’ll also provide our design and our shop services to enhance and finish these products. All our custom services and hand carving remains the same, now we just have a few things we can take off the shelf and sell! Artisans Architecturals is a machine carved product, using all the available tooling ranging from lathes and presses to spindle carvers through to fully automated CNC equipment. All of the pieces marked as hand carved each receive special attention by specialized carvers to assure that all the little details are properly in place. Artisans also offers a final touch service to provide our own master’s level carving skills to complete the last and final details upon request. Artisans will provide design, assembly, and finishing services to incorporate these elements into furniture, and mantles. We will also provide consulting services and design assistance for projects requiring built-in cabinetry, moldings, stair cases, or other architectural details. Use your imagination as a designer, and you’ll envision countless uses for these products. Artisans can provide custom furniture incorporating the same elements to be implemented in a the room. This allows continuity in design and carries a unique method of developing themes for traditional and modern visions. We can provide simple scrolls or ropes through grapes, vines, and acanthus leaves. The higher end of our architectural line even incorporates eagles, horses, elephants and lions. While we implement pieces from our manufactured line, always keep in mind that our array of custom options can extend to continue your design themes far beyond production elements. Contact us to request our CD portfolio to review Artisans Architecturals! Artisans offers heirloom quality hand rubbed shellac and tung oil finishes as well as hand painted options on any of our pieces. In addition, modern finishes are available through our affiliates including the full spectrum of lacquers, acrylics, and urethanes. Artisans of the Valley is the last of the true conservation studios in New Jersey, providing museum quality restorations, refinishing, repair, and preservation services. Artisans will evaluate your antiques and collectables to determine the best options for your cherished possessions. Artisans is one of the few remaining restoration studios that can handle restoring a true shellac finish and provide the skills necessary to replace or restore damaged ball and claw feet, detailed carvings, and veneer. Bent on educating our clients, Artisans offers a tactical theory on restoration entitled “The Philosophy of Restoration.” This article outlines the concepts associated with restoration, and helps dispense the myth surrounding antiques and their care. Artisans restoration services are not limited to furniture; we handles military artifacts such as firearms, swords, and leather goods. We are the only conservation studio restoring antique and collectable chess sets; braggingTRANSCRIPT

Klise metalwork. Woven Wire Meshes
Formed Wire Grilles
Custom Metal Fabrications
We also do metal in detail.
Sometimes, the final piece of the perfect design
is incredibly detailed and elaborate. Other times,
its much simpler and elegant. Having experience
with bothand everything in betweenwere
here to create the wire or metal piece that you
desire to distinguish your furniture or cabinetry
design.
When youre developing your next design,
consider customizing either an innovative or
classically decorative piece of woven wire mesh,
formed wire grille or custom metal fabrication
from Kliseproviding the perfect finishing
detail.
Ordering information. To place an order or request a quotation, please supply the
following information:
Pattern number (style)
Mesh opening size(s), wire-to-wire, center to center
Direction of pattern (i.e. diamond, square, etc.)
Wire size & style (round, square, flat, plain, reeded)
Electroplating and finishing effect
Number of pieces and their size(s)
Pattern repeat if needed
Rosettes, cones, or clips & positioning
Frame width, if applicable
Rabbet width, if applicable
Submit sketch or drawing for clarification if necessary
For Style #600 or other custom designed grilles, a detailed
drawing is required, showing all dimensions, number of pattern
repeats across the piece(s), and rosette placement, if required.
Installation information. Our wire mesh grilles are hand-woven to customer specifications
for wire size and shape, finish, mesh size, and overall size and
shape. Wire meshes are not welded, but are held together by the
interlocking effect of weaving. As a result, the nature of the grille
is to be somewhat flexible, and during shipping and handling
the grille is likely to change shape somewhat and may appear
to be the wrong size. However, by compressing or scissoring the
grille you will notice that the length and width will change.
Tolerances for unframed grilles are 0", +1/8" in width and
0", +1/4" in length. Tolerances for metal framed grilles are 0",
+1/8" for both length and width. Rosettes, if ordered, are tack-
welded to the grille, which has the side effect of freezing the
grille to a fixed shape. Please design grille mounting enclosures
with these tolerances and effects in mind, as framed grilles and
grilles with Rosettes are not adjustable.
Exact color matches cannot be guaranteed. Color variations
within an order should be minimal, but from one order to the
next or from a sample to a production order there may be
slight variations. If matching is critical, you may want to order
unfinished grilles, and have them plated locally, where you can
inspect them before acceptance.
For proper installation you should extend the length by
compressing the width slightly with a scissoring motion, making
the grille slightly narrower than necessary to place in the opening.
Allow (or help with the scissoring motion) the grille to return to
the full width of the opening and be sure it is centered over the
length of the opening. There may be a slight amount of excess
grille at each end along the length. This is due to slight variations
that occur during both the process of cabinet manufacturing and
the assembly of woven wire mesh grilles. Any excess can be
removed by cutting the wire ends. Be careful to remove an equal
amount from both ends in order to retain the symmetry of the
grille within the opening.
If you have any further questions, please contact the Klise
Sales Department at 616-459-4283.
Rosettes and cones.Rosettes and cones are the perfect addition to make your grille unique. These items are available in any electroplating and finishing effects. Other styles and types are available for special order. (Shown in Brass)
Standard materials.Steel wire is the most commonly used and is used unless otherwise requested. If specified, tempered brass wire can be substituted to resist denting and for permanency of configuration.
Standard finishes.
Standard electroplating options are Brass, Copper
and Steel. Chrome, Nickel, Pewter and Bronze are
also available.
Standard finishing effects include Antique, Satin
and Bright, with special finishes and glazing effects
also available to fulfill design requirements.
For most grilles, plain steel or brass wire is crimped
as needed, hand-woven to customer specifications,
and then electroplated. Grilles are then electro-
oxidized for antique effects and rubbed. Finally, a
high grade lacquer spray coating is applied for a
more durable finish.
Plain steel or solid brass wire grilles without
electroplating or finishing effects are also
available.
Maximum piece size for plating is 48" x 72".
Electroplating and finishing effects are not
guaranteed to match from one run to another.
Illustrated here are the three basic wire-crimps
usually used in mesh weave configurationssingle,
press and double crimped. Klise grilles can be
supplied with special attaching provisions such as
nail holes, matching metal frames or mounting tabs.
(Special attaching provisions are not generally
recommended on woven meshes.) A drawing or
simple sketch will be helpful in showing required
details.
