Since independence from Portugal in 1975, Mozambique has

A peace deal in 1992 ended 16 years of civil war betweenthe Frelimo and Renamo parties, and the country has mademuch progress in economic development and political stability. The Frelimo party has been in power since independence andtension with former Renamo guerrillas has persisted. Fightingared up again recently ahead of elections in October this year.Against this backdrop, AIM work goes on.
