DECLARING GOD’S GLORYAMONG THE NATIONS“Sing to the LORD, praise His Name; proclaim His salvation day after day. Declare His glory, His marvellous deeds among all peoples”

Psalm 96:2-3 (NIV)

Sharing ChristThat is what MAF is doing, picking up the words of the psalmist and declaring God’s deeds across the world. It all started nearly 70 years ago, as Air Force pilots in the UK, USA, Australia and South Africa had the same God-given idea of using light aircraft to bring help, hope and healing to remote and isolated places.

Today, we serve around 25 developing countries, operate more than 130 light aircraft, fly into 1,800 remote destinations, and assist nearly 1,500 churches, missions, relief groups and other non-governmental organisations worldwide, as well as flying for United Nations agencies and national governments.

The scale of our work is truly remarkable. Because the communities our partners need to reach are so remote and inaccessible, our planes fly great distances and often have to land on difficult and remote airstrips.

The variety of our work is remarkable. One day, we will receive an urgent call to fly a patient quickly to hospital for lifesaving treatment. Another, we will take a team of doctors or dentists to different villages to treat patients, accompanied by an evangelist. Our pilots often join in sharing the Gospel.

When natural disasters hit parts of the developing world where we operate, we are there to provide flights for those who need to reach the affected areas. We also assist people affected by tribal warfare, conflict and political unrest. Our flights not only evacuate those in danger but also fly in personnel to care for vulnerable and injured people.

SUNDAY 1 Praise God for the opportunities we have to support Mongolia’s growing Church since we began flying there under the name Blue Sky Aviation (BSA) in 2001. Our flights are also used to assist a variety of development and government bodies.

MONDAY 2 Tom Mason leads the team operating the Millennium Messenger aircraft from the capital Ulaanbaatar. At this time of year, the harsh winter conditions sometimes make it difficult to fly our planes. Pray for Tom and for Operations Manager Badaa Bayarbadrakh who has now started flying as radio operator.

TUESDAY 3 Give thanks for the opening of new airstrips in some of Mongolia’s remotest areas. They will be extremely useful for carrying out medical emergency flights and for supporting local communities. Uphold Chief Pilot Ryan Van Geest, Operations Officer Batculuun Alexandar and Engineer Assistant Byambasuren Sansar, who are all working closely with key airstrip projects.

WEDNESDAY 4 Pray for wisdom and direction as our BSA team visits potential partners and looks for the best way to meet the needs of Mongolia’s people. Pray also that the team and their families will be strengthened as they share Jesus’ love where they are based in Mongolia.

THURSDAY 5 MAF personnel encourage Mongolian believers to share their faith whenever they can. Pray for our local staff as they take part in missions and reach out to their community.

FRIDAY 6 Uphold our regular flights which help support community development in Bulgan Sum, as well as offering medical support to those in need. These flights are much appreciated by the community they serve.

SATURDAY 7 We are looking for a Chief Engineer to join our team in Mongolia. Pray that the right person will soon be found.

1-7 DECEMBER

Reaching out in Mongoliain this vast country, our flights are often the only way people can receive lifesaving medical assistance when emergencies occur.

Lord, as we prepare to celebrate Jesus’ birth, may we also remember to share His love with others.

TUESDAY 24 MAF Country Director and pilot Jonathan Lowe praises God for all the support in prayer and giving that he and his wife Angela receive. Pray that Jonathan and Angela will continue to know God’s blessing in all they do.

WEDNESDAY 25 Pray that, on this Christmas Day, our team, mission partners and the Church in Timor-Leste will be able to share their joy in celebrating the birth of the Lord Jesus. Remember also the many MAF families around the world who may be far from friends and family on this special day. Thank the Lord for their vital work and service for God’s Kingdom.

SUNDAY 29 Praise God for 52 years of MAF’s work in the DRC. Throughout this period, we have helped our partners spread the peace-giving love of Jesus through times of conflict, civil wars, changes of government and various crises.

MONDAY 30 MAF Country Director and pilot Jon Cadd leads a team of 10 families and 16 local staff serving in Bunia and Nyankunde, DRC, as well as in the capital of Uganda. Uphold Jon and his wife Cher.

TUESDAY 31 Pray for Mike and Sharol Shutts who have moved from Lesotho to join the eastern DRC team. Mike, an aircraft maintenance engineer, has joined Stan Lincoln and Luc Levesque working on our planes in Kampala, Uganda.

WEDNESDAY 1 Pray for peace in eastern DRC. For nine years, the rebel Uganda Allied Democratic Forces has been based there, in an area where many other armed groups have also wrought havoc. Reports indicate that they have increased their military capacity.

THURSDAY 2 Many Congolese families have fled from clashes between the Congolese Army and the M23 rebels, and have crossed the border into Uganda. Pray the MAF team in the DRC will know God’s strength, peace and vision and amid political and militia unrest.

FRIDAY 3 Some 800,000 refugees have been displaced from the DRC in recent months. In July, 66,000 refugees fled to Bundibugyo, western Uganda. Uphold the work of our partner Save the Children. They say half of those seeking refuge are children who face health risks because of a lack of clean water and proper sanitation.

SATURDAY 4 Pray as we look to recruit for the role of Director of Maintenance in Kenya, and that someone suitable will soon come forward.

29 DECEMBER – 4 JANUARY

The Democratic Republic of CongoThe eastern area of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is rich in minerals, with many groups fighting to gain control of this wealth.

Lord, in situations of war and violence, may Your Spirit strengthen and encourage believers to proclaim the Gospel.

TUESDAY 7 Michael and Nicki Duncalfe have been part of the PNG team since 1994. They have seen God move in many amazing ways throughout their 20-year journey. Michael is currently Flight Operations Manager and Nicki trains staff and serves at our IT help desk. Give thanks for their long and faithful service.

WEDNESDAY 8 Thank God for our ability to respond quickly to medical emergencies, such as the time we flew a woman suffering pregnancy complications from Sangera to Wewak Hospital. Without MAF, the mother and child wouldn’t have survived.

WEDNESDAY 15 David and Lisa Pearce have moved to Chad from Kenya, where David has taken up the post of Operations Manager and pilot. Remember them and their children as the family continues to acclimatise to conditions in Chad.

THURSDAY 16 Praise God for Mines Advisory Group, which assists communities affected by violence and conflict. WEDNESDAY 22 Remember Country Director Ian Sinkinson, who took over the role last year, and his wife Dadirai. Pray Ian will be blessed and strengthened as he leads the team and decides how best to serve this region.

THURSDAY 23 Pray for the safety of personnel from partner organisations. Caritas uses MAF because it’s far safer to travel by air than by road – particularly since Caritas staff were shot at by bandits while driving from Nairobi.

FRIDAY 24 Uphold Adrian and Lindsay Rose. Pilot Adrian regularly flies the Marsabit Shuttle north from Nairobi. His flights serve a variety of organisations involved in health work, HIV clinics, missionary outreach, food security and education.

SATURDAY 25 Join us as we pray that various management staff for our vital work in South Sudan will soon be found.

FRIDAY 31 Pray as South Sudan copes with the aftermath of decades of war. Explosives and landmines often maim innocent children. In Torit last year, three children were killed and eight-year-old James Kanuto lost a leg when an abandoned mortar shell exploded.

SATURDAY 1 Please pray for success as we search for a Base Operations Manager for South Sudan.

26 JANUARY – 1 FEBRUARY
