Prayer at the Time of a Pandemic O God, Whose only begotten Son bore the weight of human

suffering for our salvation, hear the prayers of your Church for our

sick brothers and sisters and deliver us from this time of trial.

Open our ears and our hearts to the voice of your Son:

Be not afraid, for I am with you always.

Bless all doctors and nurses, researchers and public servants;

give us the wisdom to do what is right and the faith to endure this hour, that we might gather once again to praise your name in the heart of your Church, delivered from all distress and confident in

your Mercy. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

Pray in the church privately. The church is open daily from 9 am to 4:30 pm. Please adhere to the guidelines of no more than 10 people six feet apart so that we can continue to keep the church

open. In times where there is a Private Mass being held, the church doors will be locked.

are extended to the family and friends of

who died recently.

Please remember them and their family in your

prayers. This is an especially difficult time for

family and friends of the deceased as they

cannot gather together to comfort, console and

share loving memories.

Returning Home

Did you ever leave the Church? Or, did you know someone who left and returned? Why did you or this other person return? Many of us have left the Church, only to return and find a spiritual home. We may have felt distant from God, discouraged over an unresolved faith issue, or snubbed by someone in the Church. Then, some-thing happened to turn us back. If we look closer, we will find it was not a personal crisis or children or maturity that made us return. It was God. God is always walking along with us. He is everywhere. The problem is that we are often not aware of Him, because we tend to be so wrapped up in things we believe are more important. Looking to the Gospel this week, and the disciples walking along the road to Emmaus – no one would fault them for being upset or distracted by the events that had occurred in their lives, and the pain and the personal sense of loss it had caused them. The issue for them, though, is the same for us. It is sometimes so easy for us to be consumed by these concerns that we can lose sight of God’s continuing presence in our lives. God walking right along with us, trying to accompany us on our way home. In this time, when we think of the Church as being closed, it can almost feel like we have been kicked out of our home – but it isn’t true. While we cannot celebrate public Mass during the pandemic, please rest assured that Mass is being said, for you and for the whole world. Sacraments are still being offered, although restrictions may be in place for some of them, for your own protection and for the protection of our clergy. Our Church is open, all day every day, for you to come in and spend some quiet time with the Lord, as well. If you’ve missed coming to Mass, for now we can only offer the online version we have been streaming to try to help bridge that gap. Please join us in any way that you are able, and that includes stopping in when you have a few moments to sit before the tabernacle, or to light a candle to pray for others you know who are in need. We are not just a faith community, we are a family – a family that cares deeply for one another – and like a good father, God is always waiting for you to return home.
