How Alexander Adopted the Ways of Conquered Cultures

• Adopted the Persian system of government– Persian governors allowed to run day-to-day business– Appointed Macedonians to head the army– Alexander's people controlled the taxes that were collected

• Borrowed Persian customs– Began wearing Persian-style clothes– Received official visitors in a luxurious tent like a Persian king
