A Glimpse of Learning Through FunOur Authentic Girl Mentoring Programs kicked off in February and are 8-weeks long. Since February’s weather was so cold, we brought some of the activities inside for the girls. During one of the sessions, our leaders taught them about communication through a game in which there were two participants. One girl was blindfolded, and with a partner, they both had to navigate a set of obstacles together. Doesn’t it feel that way many times in relationships and life?

We are thankful to have the opportunity to equip the girls with knowledge that will help them now and throughout their lives. They are growing in their confidence to communicate and ability to make decisions. Our Christ-centered mentoring program is designed for true healing to take place for girls who are struggling or hurting.

We will welcome warmer temperatures that will allow us to resume our lessons outside and work with the horses in our “Equine Experience.”

As part of our mentoring program, we also support and minister to parents through the Tools For Change program. We believe the entire family unit must be healthy for lasting change to take place in each girl’s life.

run with purpose. Join us on Saturday, April 20 for the 9th Annual House of Healing Easter Run. There is something for everyone! The day begins with the 5K and 10K Runs and the Fun Run/Walk. It continues with an Easter egg hunt, inflatables for the kids, and food. More than 1,300 people attended this family event last year.

Runners can register online on the House of Healing website. Both courses are certified as accurate by USATF, and this event is sanctioned by USATF. Medals are given after the races.

All event proceeds benefit the ministry of House of Healing to support the Authentic Girl Mentoring Program, Tools for Change Program for parents, and the Equine Experience.

susie stearI have always been passionate about helping children and have dedicated 30 years of my life to teaching. I have raised four children and know how difficult being a teenager can be, especially for girls. I am grateful for the House of Healing and the

environment, experiences and support available to girls and their families. God has given me the privilege of being involved with the House of Healing where I can continue to nurture, guide, and love his precious children.

As a young girl, I painfully watched a beloved family member struggle through her teenage years, falling into drug use, depression, pregnancy, and ultimately dropping out of school. I continually see the need for this ministry and the positive impact it has on families within our community. This ministry is full of integrity and is committed to following God’s lead in serving the girls, mentors and leaders to the utmost. I am honored to help love, encourage, guide and support House of Healing and its participants with my time and talents.

naomi noelOver the last several years, I have had the opportunity to serve various groups in many different capacities and am blessed to have been introduced to House of Healing. I have been involved in the nonprofit and equine sectors for over a decade and am fortunate enough to be one of the facilitators for House of Healing’s Equine Experience. My desire is to show the love of Christ to each youth that I encounter, while also creating a safe environment where skills can be developed and healing can take place in order for successful navigation of life as a teenager to occur.

We kicked off our spring programs and have been blessed with a great start to the year. We already see growth in the girls, and there is a real hunger for change from the parents of the girls. They are seeking knowledge about how to build strong families and help their daughters.

The new Leadership Center and Riding Arena is almost complete…and we are so excited about it! The new arena means we will be able to reach further into our local community and serve more young people. For example, we are thankful for a new opportunity to partner with a local school utilizing the Equine Experience program. During the day we will be able to serve both young men and young women from the school. They will learn about setting healthy boundaries, overcoming fears, developing communication skills, and gaining a greater understanding of their own emotions.
