APRIL 2019 – DG Input for Newsletter
Welcome to Spring…I hope. I got up this morning to
30 degrees at my house…what gives? But as Lions
do we care?…we persevere through all challenges
and opportunities. I love my Lions family.
Our convention team has been working hard to pro-
vide a fun and informational convention April 12-13.

8:00 Saturday morning…we are recommending that
those Lions wishing to attend the Memorial, plan to
be seated by 7:45. IMPORTANT INFORMATION for
new Lions. REMEMBER: the doors will be closed at
8:00 and you will NOT be able to enter the room un-
til after the Memorial Service.

noon) 1:00 – 3:30 at LaQuinta Inn in Tacoma. You
do NOT have to be registered for the convention to
attend this training. 1:00 classes (3 rooms) are Presi-
dent, Secretary, & Membership; 2:20 classes are
Board of Directors, Treasurers, and Service Coordina-

MEMBERS & VOLUNTEERS: With spring finally
here…don’t forget to include your members in club
activities, invite non-lion volunteers to help out so
they can learn about our great service work, listen to
new ideas for new things to do or better ways to do
things.

MyLION: This is new for many of us. We have been receiving great information from LCI
emails, Facebook postings, from Pat Burch and Lisa Ikeda on how to get set up and navigate
around MyLion.
Thank you so much for all you do and for the difference you are making. Continue to go
forth and do great things.
I would like to leave you with a poem I recently found in a Simple Truths® catalog. I think it
really describes each of us as a Lion:
ONE…
One tree can start a forest;
One smile can begin a friendship;
One hand can lift a soul;
On word can frame the goal;
One candle can wipe out darkness;
One laugh can conquer gloom;
One hope can raise our spirits;
One touch can show you care;
One life can make the difference;
BE THAT ONE TODAY.

LCIF 100 CAMPAIGN
CAMPAIGN 100 has another year to go to meet the goal that has been set. This is a pro-
ject that every single Lion can participate in. We are asking every lion to think about be-
ing a donor.
You can do this with one donation only or you can be set up as a continuing donor doing
it monthly. An individual donation of $100. will put you in this Campaign 100 or you can
donate $8.00 a MONTH to accomplish a goal.
When you say eight dollars a MONTH, it does not sound like much, but when you get
that from every club in the Lions World, it can make a gigantic impact.
Please think about this when you wish to donate money too. This is OUR Foundation.
Probably everyone in your club donates to something and we would like that something
to be LCIF because it is a LIONS UNIVERSAL FOUNDATION which covers 202 countries and
it is a nonprofit, so your donation is tax deductible.
For anyone wanting to donate individually to this campaign, please make out a check
and send directly to LCIF with the name of your club and your member number. This
does not take away from each LIONS CLUB yearly donation, it is an additional contribu-
tion by members.
You can get the address for LIONS CLUBS in your roster towards the front. Your secretary
can give you your club number and your own member number is above your name on
your LIONS magazine.
New Member Service Grants
You know that increasing, retaining and engaging your members is the key to a healthy club and impactful service. With the right resources, your club can cele-brate new members and current members while engag-ing in meaningful service in your community. That’s why we’re offering you a special opportunity to receive a service grant when you add new members in April.
Here’s how the service grants work:
• Add new members in April – Clubs will have an opportunity to receive a special grant for new Lions who are reported during April 2019.
• Apply for a grant – Clubs can apply for a Service Grant for New Members, which awards a total of US$35 for each new member in two equal installments on De-cember 31, 2019 and June 30, 2020 club statements if new members stay active.
Engage new members – Funds should be used to plan activities that engage new members in service, so they have a great onboarding experience in your club. These service grants will allow you to invest directly in your new members so you can make their first year a memorable one. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to grow your club’s impact by inviting new members in April and inspiring a lifetime of service.
In friendship,
Yngvadottir Gudrun Your International President
