Happy Easter from Mission and Evangelism  What a busy place Pisgah has b een in March ! Along  with Lenten Labor, the Gentle-Men’s Bible Study, Tessa preparing lunch for the laborers, your M&E committee  was setting up for Project Linus – all on the same Saturday morning! The following day approximately 50 of you stayed after church for lunch and created 35 beautiful blankets for the Nest at the Center for  Women and C hildren. We collected 52 stuffed animals and donated them to the Fraternal Order of Firemen to be given to children who find themselves in stressful situations. Thank you to all who supported these projects so generously….you not only “wrapped” these children in God’s love; you also gave them something to hug! For Easter this year Mission and Evangelism is sponsoring the Pisgah Youth Group who are creating  vases to give to members of our church that can no longer atten d the services on a regular basis. The vases are being made at iPotter in Versailles. Several members of Pisgah have volunteered flowers to fill the vases on the Saturday before Easter; the Youth Group will then deliver them. Head, hearts and hands! Thanks to all who participated in this project; especially Jamie Macleod who envisioned and coordinated this idea.  With gratitude for the financial support from the congregation, the Mission and Evangelism committee  was able to give to the following organizations during the month of March: WCHS Project Graduation $200, Chrysalis House 5K Run/Walk $200, Against Malaria Foundation: Senegal Mosquito Netting $250, Fleece for Project Linus $130, From Pisgah with love “Easter Flower-Power Vases” $100.  The March 29 th Fifth Sunday offering was collected for the Pisgah Presbyterian Burnamwood Youth Scholarship Fund. What a coincidence that Peter Jones  was our pulpit supply for March and M&E had selected this Sunday to support Burnamwood! We p romise there  was no collusion and we don’t really think it was a coincidence! Thank you for do nating so generously and providing opportunities for our youth to grow in God’s  word at this wonderful camp. A Light in the Attic The youth group is picking up steam as we move

into spring. Spring is generally are busy time of the yearand 2009 is no exception.

Growing pains are not always a bad thing. We havebeen blessed recently by experiences some growing painsof our own. This is a true blessing. To manage thisgrowth, and to better facilitate our learning anddiscussion, we have recently split the “study” time of our

weekly meetings into middle school and high school.Melissa is leading the middle school while I am leading the high school group. This arrangement allows us tocustomize the discussions into topics pertinent to eachage group. This has worked very well and thediscussions and participation have been wonderful.

With the split, the youth are together for theannouncements, prayer concerns, games, and meal. Theonly time we are dividing is just for study anddiscussion. As we explained to the youth, we willcontinue to do this arrangement for all of our regularmeetings, but for special events, fun Fridays, and certainprojects we will remain together as a single group.

April is our busiest month yet. We are starting the month with our30 hour Famine. To raise money

and awareness to the global problemof world hunger, the youth will fastfor 30 hours. During these hours,

we will be together as a group working on community activities, mission projects and spiritual growth.

The youth will also be hosting Pisgah’s annualpancake breakfast and Easter egg hunt on April 11 th.Please bring your families and come join the fun!

Looking ahead, May 10th is Mother’s Day and onceagain is the date of the annual Youth Sunday, a serviceled entirely by Pisgah’s Youth. Please mark your

calendars now and plan on participating in this worshipservice on May 10th.

Pisgah Youth are in need of donated items: The youth group is currently asking for donations of paper plates, cups, paper towels, batteries (allsizes), flashlights, and gift cards (to be used as

prizes and awards). See Cathy Johnson or MelissaScott to donate any of these items.

See you in the Attic,Cathy Johnson

Greetings from the As we near the end of the first quarter of 2009 we

would like to make all of you aware of our currentfinancial situation and how we are doing in relation toour 2009 budget. We feel that stewardship is a year long task and intend to do our best to keep everyoneinformed as much as possible.

We can report the following for the period ending March 15, 2009. We are twenty percent of the way through the calendar year and have received incometotaling $57,000 or nearly thirty three percent of theannual budgeted $174,332. Meanwhile total expenses

were $24,000, representing approximately fourteenpercent of budget.

At this stage of our budget, we’re doing quite well.Of course, a significant reason for the positive netincome is the fact that our interim and pulpit supply expenses are only seven percent of budget. This situation

will change when we obtain a full time interim minister, even with that in mind our first quarter savings havehelped the yearly budget situation greatly.

Thank you for keeping your pledges current andplease let the Administration Committee or me know of any questions you may have.

Larry Jones Treasurer

Project Graduation Our church, through the M &

E committee, has made a donationto Woodford County HighSchool’s Project Graduation, a giftfrom parents and the community to our children. The is a free, all-night party held the night of graduation at Falling Springs Arts & Recreation Center, and our donation will help defray event expenses.

What makes Project Graduation so special is that itis an alcohol-, drug-, and tobacco-free event held in asafe and secure environment. Project Graduation’ssuccess depends on the generosity of the community; asyou might imagine in the current economy, donationsare trending lower than has been the case in prior years.

The event helps keep newly-minted graduates away from alcohol and from behind the wheel, and a big draw to getting students there is the all-night-long chance to win prizes. The way it works: Studentattendees’ names are placed in a “pot,” where studentshave, in the past, won items such as brand-new clothing accessories bearing university logos, fishing gear, TV’s,dorm-size refrigerators, i-Pods, stereos, unboxedcosmetics, gift certificates for everything from nailsalons, to barber shops, to dry cleaners and restaurants.

To supplement Pisgah’s cash gift, consider whetheryou might have something suitable to donate to

5someone of that age who may be college-bound. Youdon’t have to spend a dime on a donation. Maybe youhave a coffeemaker that’s never been unboxed, a giftcertificate for a movie theatre performance, a desk lamp, even fishing gear. As long as it’s something new thatsomeone of this age might appreciate, great!

If you have a donation, contact a member of the M& E committee, and we will make sure that yourdonation gets to Project Graduation planners.
