funding can foster parent efficacy, leadership, and advocacy across demographics as a way to strengthen partnerships in children’s education.
How did the DAC address this charge?
Enhanced the DAC Executive Board responsibilities to include leadership of DAC meetings and input on content
Revised DAC by-laws Discussed and proposed changes to School Board policy about
virtual broadcasting of DAC meetings Learned about identifying leaders by creatively increasing parent
participation at school events Shared a variety of parent leadership opportunities within schools Learned about leadership training opportunities offered through
FCCPTA Discovered resources offered through the Parent Resource Center
and the Family School Partnerships Office
Board’s suggestions for extending this charge into next year:
Include a focus on parents’ use of technology at the elementary and middle school level.
Add parent use of technology in fostering parent efficacy
Continue learning about county resources and providers of services for families with financial need
Continue to highlight parent leadership opportunities within a variety of Title I schools
