MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPALDear Woodburn Families, November is a great month to be thankful. So let me �rst thank you for participating in ourparent teacher conference week. During the week, 95% of our families had conferences andwe have a few others scheduled beyond this week. We are so grateful for your commitment to your child’s education. Parent and family involvement in a child’s education is a strongfactor in student achievement. On November 8th we held our annual Veteran’s Day Assembly. Our students and staff honoredthose who have served our country through song, a moment of silence, and a reading ofpurpose of Veteran’s Day. Mr. Ainley, our music teacher, led our students in singing, “The StarSpangled Banner”, “Grand Old Flag”, “America the Beautiful”, “America”, and “God BlessAmerica”. It was powerful to have all the service members in attendance stand as ourstudents sang to them. We had a great turn out of community members and families inattendance. For the month of November, we are focusing on gratitude as our Wolf Pride character trait. Weencourage you to join with us in teaching students to importance of showing gratitude.Gratitude is the appreciation for the bene�ts we receive from others and the desire toreciprocate. Consider asking your children the following questions: What are you grateful fortoday? How can you show appreciation for others? As we approach Thanksgiving, I’mreminded of how much we have to be thankful for at Woodburn: our freedom, our teachers &staff, our families, and our 590 wolves. We are thankful for our wonderful volunteers who helpout in so many ways to create rich learning experiences for kids. We are thankful for our PAWSgroup who organize fun events and help to celebrate our students. We are fortunate to live in acommunity where we enjoy the support of our parents, businesses, and community members.You all help to make Woodburn a great school. THE WOODBURN WINTERWONDERLAND IS COMING!We kick off our Woodburn Wonderland experience with acombined performance of our Woodburn Choir and the 5thGrade Skirt Team on Thursday, December 5th. The schoolassembly will be at 8:30 a.m. and the evening performance forfamily and community members will be at 6:30 pm.December 9-13th, the Woodburn Gym will be lit up with festivelights and decorations. Woodburn students will go through“Reindeer Training,” a special strength circuit training to prepareour young reindeers for the upcoming holiday. Our youngreindeers will practice “low altitude �ying,” “roof top take-offand landing,” and “sleigh pulling and driving practice.”

Master Yun and his staff fromWorld Class Martial Arts have volunteered their time to teachthe WCMA Kids program at our school. This program is taught by certi�ed instructors from WorldClass Martial Arts who are experts at working with kids.
