Applications and limitations of Poiseulles law
Applications*Poiseuille's equation holds for most systems involving laminar flow of a fluid in a rigid pipe, except at regions where features disrupting laminar flow, such as at the ends of a pipe, are present. It can be successfully applied to:air flow in lung alveoliBlood flowfor the flow through a drinking straw or through a hypodermic needle etc
limitationsThis law is restricted to: Incompressible and Newtonian fluids;the flow must be laminar through a pipe of constant circular cross-section that is substantially longer than its diameter; andthere should be no acceleration of fluid in the pipe
