Introduction
The Freshman Program offers the students who do not have previous knowledge of the German language the possibility of studying in German, English or both at one of our partner universities with guaranteed admission after successful completion of the Freshman year.

Requirements English: IELTS 4.5 or internet based TOEFL (iBT) 53 Successful completion of high school (final school certificate is
required) Either:
o Freshman entrance test or Test AS, oro Meet the admission requirements to “Studienkolleg” according to
http://anabin.kmk.org with excellent math and physics (forbusiness: math and business or economics).
Study Focuses In the Freshman year you have a choice of two study focuses
Engineering focus = for engineering, natural sciences, technical programsand mathematics
Business focus = economics and social sciences oriented programs
Partner Universities There are 4 accredited universities associated with the Freshman program.
FH Aachen (AC) Universität Duisburg-Essen (DuE) Hochschule Rhein-Waal (RW) FH Südwestfalen (SW).
In addition there are several other universities that accept students from the Freshman program. Some programs have a limited number of available spaces (NC), so we cannot guarantee a specific university. However, the Freshman Institute guarantees that everyone who successfully completes the Freshman program will be able to study at a university in the German state of North-Rhine Westphalia.
Languages of the Fields of Study Depending upon your chosen study focus, your language options in the Freshman year may be
English/German (engineering focus in DuE and AC IOS program) English (engineering focus in RW or business focus RW or SW)
All applicants from China, India and Vietnam must take an entrance exam. Applicants from these countries without an entrance exam will not be considered for the Freshman program. See the website above for test dates.

Engineering and Natural Sciences Focus Fields of Study taught in English and German English language level for the entrance exam must be IELTS 4.5 or internet based TOEFL (iBT) 53. After successful completion of the Freshman program, the Freshman Institute guarantees that the student will be admitted to one of the following programs. FH Aachen
