INTRODUCTION ICT in Agriculture Challenges in Indian Agriculture Cloud Computing Cloud based agricultural system Benefits of Cloud Computing Issues with Cloud Computing Conclusion
INTRODUCTION
Information and communication are part of human life
Formers grown crops from centuries, but final outcome was affected.
The latest info allows formers to deal with these issues.
In past few years, ICT has been crucial for the agriculture sector.
INTRODUCTION
Initial expenditure and for setting the ICT infrastructure and maintenance is the primary drawback.
That’s why, we need an application at very reasonable and affordable costs.
ICT in Agriculture
Indian agriculture gained momentum due to ICT projects
Lack of internet, infrastructure, poor knowledge and awareness affects the output of these projects.
Hence, due to above causes, the potential of these projects is yet to be achieved.
Challenges in Indian Agriculture Poor Knowledge about weather forecast. Deficient production information. Not enough sales and distribution
information. Insufficient power availability. Poor ICI infrastructure. Non availability timely and relevant
content. Lack of awareness about benefits of ICT
in agriculture.
CLOUD COMPUTING
It regarded as a technology that makes IT services available.
End users need not to know who is providing those services.
It requires less manpower and zero maintenance cost for services.
According t NIST, we have 4 deployment models.
Community, Private, Hybrid and Public.
CLOUD COMPUTING
Based on the user requirement, cloud computing offers the following models:
Software as a service (SaaS)
Platform as a service (PaaS)
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
CLOUD COMPUTING FRAMEWORK
CLOUD BASED AGRICULTURAL SYSTEM
The challenge is lack of proper mechanisms to share knowledge.
Cloud offers centralized knowledge bank that stores all agriculture related information.
Information like weather forecasting, crop related information and ask the expert/ FAQs are provided using these cloud services.
CLOUD BASED AGRICULTURAL SYSTEM
Following are some of the applications offered by cloud service providers.
Store and maintain database for daily activities.
Weather Prediction Database for crop related information. Database for market related info. Database for production related data. Database for agriculture tools.
CLOUD BASED AGRICULTURAL SYSTEM
BENEFITS WITH CLOUD COMPUTING
Less or no expenditure on setting up IT infrastructure.
On – Demand opportunities for data sharing.
Rapidly provisioned and released feature.
Measured services. Efficient agriculture knowledge
management. Software-as-a-service
ISSUES WITH CLOUD COMPUTING While cloud computing promises several
benefits, following are few issues that need to be considered.
Security of the data. Regulatory Compliance and SLA. Existing IT infrastructure. Network and Support.
The Cloud computing is a game changing phase of IT that is not only impacting the way computing services are and will be delivered but also the way in which users will use IT. The Cloud promises several benefits but the challenges too need to be considered when planning for Cloud adoption in agricultural sector.
