Create a word bank of these words and images. Include examples from the text as well as examples from the students. As a class construct a poem together using the sentences/images above, e.g. a Haiku poem and illustrate with chalk pastels. You could choose a group title e.g. After the Bushfire or let children create their own titles. Look at the artwork of Australian artists like Russell Drysdale.
