Prerequisites: At least one of the following domain managers should be configured to send the monitored data to Catalyst: CA eHealth, CA Spectrum, and CA Database Performance Management

Catalyst is bundled as part of SOI. SOI is available on CA Support online.

APM license includes the entitlements required to exercise Catalyst part of the SOI functionality.

APM license does not include entitlement for full usage of CA Service Operations Insight. APM license does not include any of the other domain managers required for this functionality.

Unified End-user Experience

CA APM, CA Multi-port collector, CA Application Delivery Analysis and CA Performance Center

9.1 EM and Workstation require the OSGI packages version 2.1 (also labeled as 2.1.2)

o These v2.1 packages are labeled the same v2.1 as APM 9.0, but different

packages, so make sure you've grabbed the right one; they will soon be renamed

to v2.1.2 for clarity.

As of 9.1.0.0: o PostgreSQL is 8.4.5 o EEM is 8.4.408, but the SDK used to develop APM is forward compatible to EEM

r12 as well (which supports newer platforms) 9.0.7 was 8.4.405

TIM. APM 9.1 requires BOTH TIM & EM to be at version 9.1. You cannot mix and match versions of the two.

Database Monitoring. Insight DPM (DB Light) is a download link included with APM download links, not via CA Support site (see below)

Catalyst for Location Map Enablement. Customers are entitled to SOI as part of APM 9.1 (downloaded separately). This is required for the integrations of the Location Map that shows in the demo. The version of SOI they download will include complete functionality, but they are restricted contractually to only using the connectors for IAAT. Yes, it’s the honor system. There is no limiting mechanism in SOI.

Agent Directory Tree. Starting in 9.1, the agent installation has moved the location of the agent profile and PBD's. Be aware that your startup arguments will need adjusting from prior versions (or you can rebundle the agent with the files in the location you expect). It's all inside a core/config/ folder now, but the Agent.jar remains in old

location. If you don't catch the change then everything loads with defaults and it's missing tons of stuff.

Documentation. In order to allow for more-frequent updates, documentation is now released outside the product-release cycle and is not included inside the core product. Customers should install the latest documentation package onto their MOM (instructions at <hostname>:8081/docs/help) for local access, or they can refer to online documentation.

Files in GREEN are the ones you'll ultimately want to run for a typical POC, so you can see which

download files you actually need.

Note on documentation: You can download the CA APM bookshelf from the CSO site or from the

APM software download site. If you prefer to install the documentation so it appears behind

the Help link (as in previous releases), you can download the bookshelf WAR file instead of the

ZIP file. See “Docs” lower down in this document.

Windows versions of these archives ARE different from their UNIX counterparts; they contain DLL's, whereas the UNIX versions have .so files. Pull the correct package.

Remember to download the OSGI packages from http://opensrcd.ca.com/ips/osgi/. See note at top.

These contain the APM database installer as well (embedded). Only Windows and Linux are shown here, but the tree is the same for AIX, Solaris, etc.

EM's are now distributed in both 32- and 64-bit packaging, with the appropriate JRE

included in each. You probably want a 32bit EM for your regular collectors and a 64bit

EM for your MOM and CEM (TIM Collection Service and related) collectors. Heap tuning

is slightly different for each.

Notes

For Windows workstations, it's just easier to use the JNLP webstart on port 8081, since it will auto-patch clients when the EM patches. Otherwise, you have to be sure to update ALL workstations each time you patch the EM. Remember that workstation installs also require the OSGI package if not using JNLP.
