We admire the friendship of David and Jonathan, the loyalty of David to his friend even after his death and how he cared for his crippled son Mephibosheth, we admired the wisdom of Solomon, and we saw the warning he gave to his son Jeroboam, and how that warning was ignored. Samuel would be the prophet to tell us of the days of David and his heritage. Through all of these examples, we know the beginning of this era was made known to us through the life of a woman wanting nothing more than to see life brought into this world and then dedicated to her God. Hannah, whose name is the word for grace, gives us the image of what we could later see in the lives of more of God’s godly women. When the pages of the New Testament open, it would not be long before we would be introduced to Mary the mother of Jesus. Her life would also be a life that wanted only to seek the will of God in her steps, in order to see God’s will done through her life. That devotion while noble, would require a great deal from her, namely taking her to the foot of the cross upon which her Son would suffer and die to free the world from their sins and open a door to heaven for us all. Recall the moments leading up to the Lord’s crucifixion, how they remind us that there are pains deeper than wounds of the flesh, they are the wounds of the heart. We know He was betrayed in the garden, He was denied in the courtyard, and He was forsaken in the assembly. Yet, there were those who did not leave His side. John, the apostle whom Jesus loved, was there in the midst of His crucifixion. We also know the women who had been so close to the ministry of the Lord, followed Him to the cross, and stayed with Him every step of the way. His mother Mary was there, but so were other women: Mary the wife of Clopas, Mary the mother of James and Joses, Salome and Mary Magdalene, who gains a notoriety and reputation all her own. Like many things form the word of God, people inject more opinion into the Word than simply ingest what the Word actually has to say. That’s the case with the identity of Mary Magdalene. There are things said about Mary, that have no bearing to her true identity. We are lead to believe she was a prostitute or a woman of ill repute. Confusion may come as a result of her being mentioned in Luke 8, after we’re introduced to a sinful woman of Luke 7, but that’s conjecture at best. We are never told of the details of Mary’s first encounter with Jesus (Mark 16:9), all we know is when she met the Lord, she was suffering some form of demon possession. Perhaps it’s for your sake and mine that when we learn of Mary Magdalene, and when we sift through the distortions of her life, that what we come to know is not so much how and why she suffered, but that in the midst of the unknown pain in her life, Jesus Christ was the answer to free her from the burden of sin. When you've been freed from sin by the One who alone is able to do so, there is no greater distance you would travel than that of the cross with your Savior, and wherever He would lead. I hope you know, the faith of Mary Magdalene is still needed today.

“I Hope You Know”

We’ve celebrated and invested our focus with peering into the lives of some of God’s great people of influence, in order that we might learn what they did in their lives so that we might find a place for their faith in our life. That devotion while noble, would require a great deal from her, namely taking her to the foot of the cross upon which her Son would suffer and die to free the world from their sins and

open a door to heaven for us all.

Like many things form the word of God, people

inject more opinion into the Word than simply ingest what the Word actually has to say. Perhaps it’s for your sake and mine that when we learn of Mary Magdalene, and when we sift through the

distortions of her life, that what we come to know is not so much how and why she suffered, but that in the midst of the unknown pain in her life, Jesus Christ was the answer to free her from the burden of sin. 1471 Hwy. 100 Centerville, Tennessee 37033

Brandon will be serving on the Facilities & Grounds Ministry and assisting the Security Team.

OUR FIRST LIGHTHOUSE OF THE SCHOOLYEAR kicked off last Wednesday. We had a great crowd of near 50 together to enjoy a delicious meal Misty fixed as well as some time just playing games and being together. Thanks also to Bryan McAlister for teaching class in my absence. THEN IT WAS THE BEGINNING of our Monthly Prayer Breakfasts. Our largest turnout yet enjoyed a tasty breakfast before sharing some beautiful prayers as the guys gathered together and the girls gathered together to share those things on our hearts and minds. It is always a highlight of the month for me to get the month started right. Thanks to Misty, David Brown, and Mike Elkins for help with breakfast and clean up. Also, thanks to Bryan McAlister for his help with transportation. WEDNESDAY NIGHTS we have begun a series for our Junior & Senior High entitled “Follow the Leader.” In this series we look at what it takes to be leaders as we look to Jesus to lead us. Sunday mornings in the Senior High class, we have begun a study on “12 Days With Jesus” as we talk

about discipleship from John. I hope above all the things we have going on, you are a part of our classes and time of worship. These times are so important to your spiritual growth. Don’t miss a change to be together and invite others to join us! SPEAKING OF WEDNESDAY NIGHTS… The Lad 2 Leaders & Leaderettes have begun their preparation for the annual

convention in April. On Wednesday nights they have begun meeting in their classroom in the Lighthouse as they work on Bible Bowl, Songleading, Reading, and other areas of importance for the convention. If you are a part of L2L or wish to become a part, go to the class this Wednesday to find out more. If you have other questions, please let Mike & Janice Brown know. “THEN JESUS TURNED, AND SEEING THEM FOLLOWING, SAID TO THEM, ‘WHAT DO YOU SEEK?’” John 1:38. An important question to these men that were soon to be Christ’s disciples. These same men that Jesus soon would take throughout ever aspect of His ministry. Have you ever stopped and asked yourself, “What am I seeking?” As a Christian are you seeking something your friends have introduced you to or something you have inherited through your family? Are you seeking the latest feel good spin on religion or even a tradition that can be a contradiction to what the Bible actually teaches? What are you seeking? Jesus asked the question and we all must look within and answer. That “what” hasn’t changed in over 2000 years and it is the same thing Christ offered then as He does to us now… follow His path, -Craig
