First of all, I just want to say that the March Motor-In at Quaker Steak and Lube was just COMPLETELY OFF THE HOOK!!! I don't think we actually got a headcount, but the room was overflowing! It was really great to see some new faces in the crowd and appearances from a few we haven't seen in a while. We had a lot of great conversation, friendships renewed, and new friendships created. Even though the noise level was a bit difficult to manage, it was a spectacular evening. QCC may, however, have outgrown the venue... That being said, I can't tell you how happy I am that on Saturday, April 8th at 6pm, the QCC April Motor-In will be held at The Barn, 6193 Cook Rd., Milford. New places and adventures are fun, but it's always great to get back...home. Rob and Carol Rauch, always the congenial hosts, are welcoming QCC back to The Barn with a Red Solo Cup Party! Cups cost a buck at the door, with a door prize awarded during the meeting. As always, there will be soft drinks in the fridge, but if you want something a little more "interesting" in your red Solo cup, you'll have to bring your own. Bring a snack to share, and don't forget to register on the QCC website. We have a couple of pretty cool events coming up this month. The first of the Ohio Valley Austin Healey Club drivers' training sessions is on Saturday, April 8th at Live Oaks Vocational School. It's being billed as a "Fun & Family-Oriented Gymkhana" with an opportunity to push yourself and your MINI to limits not normally possible on public highways. This could be your chance for some great driving experience, and maybe even a photo-op or two. Check the flyer posted elsewhere in the Boot and Bonnet for details, requirements, and additional dates. Also, coming up on April 22nd, is the Corsa Clermont Spring Driving Tour. This will be our first experience with this non-competitive charity driving event with a course through the hills and back roads of Clermont County tailored specifically for the MINI driving style, ending with a Cruise-In and Reception at Jungle Jim's Eastgate. At the March meeting, it was decided that QCC's $10 (minimum) per car registration donation would be divided between two deserving charities, Shriners Hospitals for Children and Angel's Paws. Make sure to register for this event on the website or contact me directly. Again, check the event flyer posted in the Boot and Bonnet for details. In addition to these events, we're always looking for more opportunities to enjoy our MINIs. We're all about motoring, so LET'S MOTOR! If you have an idea for a drive, whether it be a leisurely cruise through the country, a destination drive, a competitive rally, or a spirited drive that "lets those puppies run", contact Event Coordinator Jeff Greene and let's make it happen! Spring has finally sprung, so let's wash off the salt and shake off those Winter blues with some MINI fun! Hope to see you all at the Motor-In on April 8th! In the meantime, be safe out there... Ready for some April Foolishness?
