“ALL WHO WANDER ARE NOT LOST” JULY 2017 www.queencitycoopers.com Sponsored by www.cincinnatimini.com Boot Join us for our July event 7/8-Monthly Meeting 7/9-British Car Day By Michael Scott SUMMERTIME!!! Ahhh yes, Glorious Summertime. The soft breeze is whispering. The bees are buzzing. The birds are singing their sweet morning songs. There's the joyful sound of children playing, evening music floats on the air, and the melodious *burble* POP! *whine* of MINIs should be everywhere....but it's not. And I keep asking myself, "Why?". Looking back on the month of June, I see a lot of missed opportunities. Sure, some of our friends had a great time on The Great Ice Cream Run and MINIs ON TOP, but those weren't QCC events. I myself took the opportunity to go out and have some driving fun with the Ohio Valley Austin Healy Club at their drivers' training event, but it WASN'T QCC. In fact, our club didn't have one single driving event scheduled in the month of June. Attendance has dropped at meetings, and it's fallen to just a very small group of people producing events. So I've been asking myself, "What went wrong?". I've racked my brain over that question for weeks with no good answer. So... I've spoken with veteran QCC members, the "old hands" from "back in the day", and I've spoken to people with decades of experience with other car clubs. I've asked questions, and listened to hours of stories. And taking into account all of the information I've been able to glean from people who should know, I think I've found the answer to the question of "What went wrong?". And the answer is...NOTHING. NOTHING went wrong! It seems that, without fail, every club of every kind occasionally goes through a slump. Schedules don't line up. Weather doesn't cooperate. Holidays fall at an odd time of the month. Family commitments overwhelm us. Priorities change...LIFE HAPPENS! Then, all it takes is that break in the action, that missed opportunity, for us to begin to lose interest and allow something else to occupy our time. And then... a slump! So how do we drag QCC out of this dismal slump? Two words...SHOW UP! That's all. Just show up. You certainly know that great feeling when you're out driving your MINI, you see the "curves ahead" sign, and without even thinking, reach for the gas pedal instead of the brake. Well, there's nothing that will rekindle our excitement more than just spending some time with a group of people who share that same love of driving a MINI! Take the time away from the yard work, or the pool, or whatever mundane activity that's occupying your time, and remember the sheer unadulterated FUN of playing with the best grown-up toy in the world! IT'S NOT JUST TRANSPORTATION!!! All it takes is once, one rally, one drive, and I guarantee that enthusiasm you felt when you first joined QCC will be right back, and you'll be pulling out the map or the GPS to start planning your own event! I'm not exactly sure how I got up on this digital soapbox again, but I'm hoping that next month I'll be writing about the crazy fun we all had in the month of July! In the meantime... CHEERS! And MOTOR ON! Tom & Bonnet

SUMMERTIME!!!

Well, there's nothing that will rekindle our excitement more than just spending some time with a group of people who share that same love of driving a MINI! TIRE TECH  BY :  TIRE  RACKSidewall Markings

In addition to the tire's brand and line names (tire model), there is a lot of information provided by the manufacturer on the sidewalls of the tires they produce. Some of the branded information provides the tire's basic dimensions and identifies the week it was produced. Other branding lists the types of materials used internally to reinforce the rubber, along with the tire's maximum inflation pressures and loads. And others confirm the manufacturer certifies the tire meets various industry standards and measures up to the government regulations of the nations in which it will be used."In addition to the tire's brand and line names (tire model), there is a lot of information provided by the manufacturer on the sidewalls of the tires they produce."While not all information is branded on every tire, the illustration includes the typical information found on many tires.Rolling your mouse over any of the descriptions will highlight the appropriate branding on the tire sidewall illustration. Clicking on selected descriptions will link you to a page providing additional details (where applicable).

We  Rallied We rallied and we still are not sure how many aviators are watching us from the woods . . . 8 or 9 at least !    Enough Carol and I know we were out numbered so we decided to concede and surrender to the safety of the 140' long covered bridge all the while looking forward to

seeing Naomi & Wyonna at their home on Judd Rd.  Turns out their property is protected by Gargoyles and we were afraid to try and enter.

But alas, we went back to Hawk to take a helicopter tourbut Hawk had changed their name . . .  so we couldn't  find a way to drop

in.   The horse & buggy was at the dog groomer getting hosed back by old fire house 29.  The pig could be heard singing " What Does A Fox

Say" *   down the road so we just cautiously just drove back to the Barn only to find out the last question couldn't be answered because the Pepsi

Thermometer was on a Coke break !Does this give you any indication of the day we had ? ?   I believe we had 12 cars on this fine fun filled afternoon.  Beautiful weather, great friends and plenty of popcorn.  Remember there is partial truth in every story and the truth in this one is . . . we all had a fun, safe afternoon and everything written here really happened . . . only as Jimmy Buffett says " just from a  slightly different point of view ". Moral of the story - don't miss another event - too much fun to pass up .Hope to see you @ British Car Day July 9. MINI is the featured car . . . lets see if we can get 30 MINIs for this event.  We stage @ Nancy & John's for a quick breakfast then caravan to the park & set up our display.   CHECK QCC WEB SITE FOR DETAILSThanks to everyone who came out and helped make this another great QCC event .

(P.S. our treasurer and his wife, both computer guuurooos, we think hacked Tom & my emails and "somehow"  finished 1st.  Since Tom

finished last, he suggested we launch an investigation early this week. )
