Annunciation School Newsletter Annunciationbvm.org May 31, 2018 Dear Parents, Today’s newsletter is the final one of the school year. There are so many things to acknowledge at the year’s end. We have had a very successful school year filled with much learning and growth. On Friday we graduated 25 students who are more than ready to take on the challenges of high school. On the following page, you will find just a few of the great things that took place during the busy month of May here at school. I would like to offer a sincere thank you to our outgoing Home & School Association members Kim Becker, Kelly Bergeron, and Michelle Sojka. Each of these women was integral to the success of the 2017-2018 board, especially with the 2018 Walk-a-Thon. Their time, talent and dedication to Annunciation’s students have been greatly appreciated. I would like to welcome the new members of the 2018-2019 Home & School Association: Candace Benton (President), Angela Eilermann, Nydia Seaton, and Jolyce Seifrid. They will join the second year members Sandra Galindo, Kristin Hultgren, Jacquie Jungels, and Brenda Quinn. I look forward to working with this group of dedicated parents to make 2018-2019 another great year! As I mentioned earlier this month, Mrs. Ellen Peters will be retiring from teaching at Annunciation after 26 years of service to our school. We wish Mrs. Peters well and look forward to still seeing her around school as she will be added to our substitute list. I have been interviewing for this open position and look forward to having one of many strong candidates join our staff soon. I would also like to thank Mr. Greg Peters for serving as our P.E. teacher this year and wish him well in the future. I am also interviewing for a new P.E. teacher. Mrs. Barb Tews will be stepping down from the upper building librarian position, but will also remain on our substitute list. I thank Mrs. Tews for her time and talent in the library these past two years. Mrs. Jungels will be the upper building librarian next year. More thanks go to Kurt and Jessica Zinken for serving the adult leaders of our parish youth group. After 3 years, the Zinkens are stepping down from this position and I thank them for their time. If you are interested in becoming an adult leader of the youth group, please contact Mark Fletcher in the parish office at (630) 851-1436 or at [email protected]. Yesterday your child brought home a voucher for a set of White Sox tickets to select games this season. You will find the ordering instructions on this voucher. Thank you to Mrs. Nies for procuring these vouchers for our students. I would like to close with some alumni news from the class of 2014. I am proud to announce that Annunciation graduate Riley McCue ‘14 was the 2018 Valedictorian at Rosary High School. Marmion track and field athlete Seth Groom ‘14 dominated at the IHSA state meet this past Saturday leading Marmion Academy to the Class 2A state championship. Seth took 1 st in long jump, 1 st in triple jump, 2 nd in high jump, 6 th in 200 dash. Classmate Michael Ronzone ‘14 added to the point total with a 5 th in 1600 meters and 5 th as part of the 4x800 relay. Yesterday Seth and Michael brought the trophy to show our 4 th -8 th graders and took a picture with our track team. We had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Tim McLean, Annunciation’s first track coach who started the program in 1999, along with various past and current track coaches. On behalf of Father Patrick and the Annunciation staff, I want to wish you and your family a wonderful summer break! Sincerely, Mrs. Jennifer Wardynski

Dear Parents,

Today’s newsletter is the final one of the school year. There are so many things to acknowledge at

the year’s end. We have had a very successful school year filled with much learning and growth. On

Friday we graduated 25 students who are more than ready to take on the challenges of high school. On the

following page, you will find just a few of the great things that took place during the busy month of May

here at school.

I would like to offer a sincere thank you to our outgoing Home & School Association members

Kim Becker, Kelly Bergeron, and Michelle Sojka. Each of these women was integral to the success of

the 2017-2018 board, especially with the 2018 Walk-a-Thon. Their time, talent and dedication to

Annunciation’s students have been greatly appreciated. I would like to welcome the new members of the

2018-2019 Home & School Association: Candace Benton (President), Angela Eilermann, Nydia

Seaton, and Jolyce Seifrid. They will join the second year members Sandra Galindo, Kristin Hultgren,

Jacquie Jungels, and Brenda Quinn. I look forward to working with this group of dedicated parents to

make 2018-2019 another great year!

substitute list. I thank Mrs. Tews for her time and talent in the library these past two

More thanks go to Kurt and Jessica Zinken for serving the adult leaders of our parish youth

group. After 3 years, the Zinkens are stepping down from this position and I thank them for their time. If

you are interested in becoming an adult leader of the youth group, please contact Mark Fletcher in the

IMPORTANT END OF YEAR INFORMATION

Monday, June 4 is a full day of school for grades 1 – 7. Home and School will provide a hot dog, chips, cookies and a drink for each student. Tuesday, June 5 is the last day of school. Students will enjoy the school picnic on Tuesday morning and dismissal will be at 11:30. There is no extended care on Tuesday, June 5. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The used uniform sale is currently taking place in the school lobby. It will run through Friday, June 1. Envelopes from sales are being sent home daily, so if you brought items to the sale, please ask your oldest child for any envelopes being returned. All unsold items must be picked up TOMORROW by 3:00.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you to all Annunciation families for the overwhelming response to the uniform donations for the Sapa Un Catholic Academy! Due to space limitations we can no longer take donations. Thank you for your generous support. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you were issued a key card to the school for any purpose during the school year, please return it to the office at this time. These keys are expensive so it is important that we get all of them back. All keys will be disabled on June 6th. Thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Attention 7th Graders and Parents: Once report cards have been published on SchoolSpeak, please make a copy for yourself. Seventh graders will need a copy next year when applying to high school. Please do this right away as you will not be able to access report cards once the system changes over to the new school year. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Is your child missing a sweatshirt, shoe, gym uniform, etc.??? Please check the lost and found bins. There is a bin located in each building. You may find just what you were looking for, or something you didn’t even realize was missing!! Any usable items left in the bins after June 6 will be donated to charity, the rest will be discarded.

Youth Group Event:

The parish youth group, iYouth, is interested in planning a summer outing to a Kane County Cougars baseball game on Monday, July 23 at 6:30pm. The Kane County Cougars are a Class A Minor League affiliate of the Arizona Diamond Backs. Before ordering tickets, the youth group needs to have a tentative count to see if

there is enough interest in attending as a group. Individuals are responsible for their own transportation to/from the game. Family and friends are invited to join in. Reserved tickets are just $5 each for groups of 20 or more. That is a great savings over the $16 face value of each ticket.

If you are interested in attending or for more information, please email either Jessica Zinken:

[email protected] or Mark Fletcher at [email protected]. Let us know if you are

interested and how many in your family would like to attend. We will get in touch with you with

more information. If we have enough response to attend as a group, the tickets are just $5

each. The deadline to respond is June 8.
