Attendance of students was meticulously monitored every month. At the end of

each month, letters were sent to the parents of students having less than 75%

XVI] SEMINARS ORGANIZED/ VES GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

A. INAUGURAL FUNCTION

Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Supriya Shidhaye welcomed and expressed her sincere

gratitude to all the students and trustees who were present for inaugural

ceremony. She paid tribute to Shri. Hashu Advaniji, who founded VES in 1962,

who was a great visionary and a role model of total dedication to serving humanity.

Shri. B. L. Boolaniji, Member, VES & Founder Trustee In-charge, VESCOP

remembered the co-operation of the people as a source of inspiration and

encouragement for the Vivekanand education society, which has made the journey

of past 5 decades an enriching one.

Shri Ram Keshwaniji, President, VES shared his experience that reflects the

efforts of VES, expressed his earnest desire to keep in mind the vision of our

founder Shri. Hashu Advaniji and he added that there was a great need to spread

the ideas of the Swami Vivekananda across the world.

Shri. Mahesh Tejawani, Treasurer, VES motivated by his speech to students and

he emphasized the importance of hard work and sincerity as a foundation of

Vivekanand education society‟s success.

Prof. Jharana Das Coordinator of VESCOP shared her experiences and great

moments with a few highly dedicated former trustees and appealed one and all to

imbibe in one‟s life such a dedications.

Key events such as VES Gaurav Geet, classical performance and tribute to lord

ganesha were done in order to commence the inauguration for VES golden jubilee

celebration.

The Programme was coordinated by Mr. Sandip Zine, Assistant Professor, VES College of

Pharmacy, Chembur, Mumbai.

Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) had gifted Medicinal & Aromatic plant saplings

which were planted in the Medicinal Plant Garden of Vivekanand Education Society‟s

College of Pharmacy, Chembur by the Chief Guest Shri. M. D. Agrawal (GM, IS,

Mumbai Refinery BPCL), which was followed distinguished trustees, faculty

members, students and non-teaching staff of VES College of Pharmacy.

The programme was organized by Mrs. Vidhi Bhatia (HOD &Asstt. Prof.) and Mr.

Keyur Shastri (Asstt. Prof.) [Dept. of Pharmacognosy & Phytochemistry] in co-

ordination with Shri. Rajeev Salvi - [Manager CISF coordination, Bharat Petroleum

Refinery] under the guidance of Principal, Dr. Supriya S Shidhaye.

Medicinal plant saplings like neem, chitrak, amla, pudina, nilgiri, madhumaliti,

shatavari, clove, pyrethrum, acoruscalamus, bhrigraj, jayphal, turmeric, ashoka,

arjunaetc were planted which has several active therapeutic phyto constituents and

are used for treating various diseases and ailments.

Vivekanand Education Society‟s College of Pharmacy, Chembur had organized One-

Day National Seminar on Recent Trends in Herbal Drug Research & Technology on

The Seminar fetched a grant of Rs. 25000/- from ICMR, Govt. of India.

Students of T.Y.B. Pharm. actively carried blood donation camp at College campus in

association with SAROVDYA HOSPITAL, Ghatkoparon 25th August, 2012 from 12.00

p.m. - 3.00 p.m. and 12th December, 2012 between 12.00 p.m. - 5.30 p.m. Total 95

bottles were collected.

b. ANTI- ADDICTION CAMPAIGN

All students and staff members of the college attended campaign performed by Final,

Third & Second Year B. Pharm. Students on 31st August, 2012.

c. BODY MASS INDEX & DIABETES CHECK-UP

All students, staff members & Non-teaching staff members of the college attended

checkup programme Organized by Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) on 1st

December, 2012.

Orientation Program for the first year and second year lateral entry students was held

on 1st September, 2012. The orientation program was chaired by Mr. B. L. Boolani
