DR. TOMMy N. MCGEE is a1983 graduate of the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Dentistry. He is first and foremost, awet-fingered dentist and maintains ageneral practice in Scottsboro, Ala-bama. Dr. McGee began placing dental implants in 2009 and implan-tology quickly became a passionate
pursuit. He is an Associate Fellow of the American Academy ofImplant Dentistry and a Fellow of the International Congress ofOral Implantologists. He has placed and restored implants fromsingle tooth replacements to opposing, fixed, full-arch cases.He is a mentor and encourager to general dentists beginningtheir journey into implant dentistry. Dr. McGee’s particular areaof expertise is in the area of virtual implant treatment planningand the use of 3D printed surgical guides to implement safe, efficient and predictable implant treatment. He has placed hundreds of implants with surgical guides designed and printedin-house. He is excited to share his knowledge of virtual implant treatment planning and guided surgery.
COURSE TITLEVirtual Implant Treatment Planning and the Grace of Guide.
COURSE DESCRIPTIONThis course is designed to encourage and motivate attendees totake an active role in the implant treatment of their patients. Dr. McGee will share from personal experience and from his experience in mentoring, how to get the right start in implantdentistry. Through case presentations, Dr. McGee will demon-strate how virtual planning and the use of surgical guides cangive the doctor confidence and predictability in implementingcases from single tooth replacements to full-arch implant reconstruction. The course will give attendees a birds-eye viewof the digital workflow involved in virtual implant treatment planning and the use of 3D printed surgical guides to providesafe, efficient and predictable results.
The course will include a hands-on element (Saturday), whichwill allow attendees to become familiar with Blue Sky Plan software. Using a show and do approach, Dr. McGee will leadparticipants through the virtual treatment planning and guide design process for a single tooth implant case.
COURSE OBJECTIVESAt the completion of this course, attendees will • Have a better understanding of how to safely and confidentlybegin their journey into implant dentistry. • Have a better understanding of CBCT analysis as it relates toimplant treatment planning. • Have a better understanding of the prosthetically workflow in-volved in virtual implant treatment planning. • Have a better appreciation of how guided surgery can be eco-nomical, efficient, and can lead to greater clinician confidence,as well as predictability and success of implant treatment. • Hands-on participants will become familiar with Blue SkyPlan software.
COMPUTER REQUIREMENTSParticipants who plan to attend the hands-on treatment planningexercise on Saturday will need to bring a laptop computer,mouse and power cord.
Well before the course, participants should download and acti-vate Blue Sky Plan software.
