Electrical Installation Codes and Their Influence on the Harmonization of Regional Standards The 23rd General Meeting of the CANENA Council will take place in San Jose,
Costa Rica, February 24-26, 2015. This will mark the culmination of a four-year
circuit of meetings that started in Mexico City in 2012 and proceeded to Mon-
treal, Canada in 2013 and then Washington, D.C. in 2014, seeking to draw in-
tense focus on both challenges and opportunities to further cooperation in elec-
trotechnical standardization.
Holding the CANENA meeting in 2015 in Costa Rica demonstrates the open-
ness of CANENA to standard development and harmonization in Latin America,
and CANENA’s willingness to share its expertise and to provide help in stand-
ard development.
The 2015 meeting program will focus on how installation codes shape product
standard development and how these codes could be themselves harmonized
but will enable us also to relate what we’ve learned over the past three-years to
truly put our regional cooperation into a global context.
