OBJECTIVES OF THE ORGANIZATION (ARDVO)

The organization aim is to make all disable persons to lead a respectable and dignified life of their own choice in the society. It was aimed at helping these students with a strong commitment and empathy. The organization believes that the nation can develop when all disable children are brought into the main stream arena and use their services. So, the organization industriously working to provide these children a suitable opportunity to withstand in their life.

Therefore the main objectives of the organization are:

1. To promote inclusive education and create awareness regarding the problems faced by disable students in the society.

2. To establish free computer training centre and audio library for visually impaired students.

3. To establish, maintain and regulate the affairs of the institution for the health care, protection and rehabilitation of the socially, physically and visually challenged children.

4. To arrange homes for elderly and orphan persons.

5. To establish rehabilitation centres (chalk-piece making, tailoring, Book Binding and candle making) for socially economically backward persons including disable and make them to earn their lively hood.

6. All other objectives of the organization are non-discriminative (Political, Gender, Social, Economical, Cultural and Tribal).

Achievements of ARDVO in last four years:

In short span of four years the organization has been developed and recognized as one of the leading Training Centres with the provision of serving the needy children starting from the stage of identification to empowerment/employment with better sustainability and quality in the community. The following are the achievements of ARDVO:

1. ARDVO began its journey by taking two students. Currently the organization was successful to identify the students who are in need of help and the strength of the students increased to seventeen.

2. ARDVO was successful in motivating the managements of private main stream schools and colleges to join visually impaired students into their institutions. Currently there are 12 schools and 3 colleges who came forward to join our students into their institutions. Hence the organization was successful in providing Quality and inclusive education for these students.

3. The organization was successful in training the visually impaired students in computer and personality development. Till now 8 batches (35) students have completed their training from our institute. The organization provided demo versions of Jaws & Kurzweil soft ware’s along with computer material to the trainees. Most importantly all the students residing in our hostel can work on computers.

4. The Organization made ‘34’ minutes documentary film (Simhapuri Sirulu, on the history of Nellore) this movie was directed and scripted by B.S.Kumar a visually impaired person. By 3rd December 2012 the Organization was successful in marketing 2100 C.Ds. The money received was spend for the welfare of the students.

5. Organization was successful in creating awareness regarding eye donation and blood donation in general public. By 3rd December 2012 the organization gathered 10 pairs of eyes and gathered blood from 234 individual and submitted to eye bank and blood bank in Nellore. More than 500 people pledged to donate their eyes.

Future planning projects:

In next five years ARDVO has made a road map to implement the below mentioned projects:

1. The organization is planning to start inclusive school of its own and raise the strength of students from 17 to hundred. So the organization is looking for a permanent building.

2. To establish free Audio library for visually impaired students. 3. To arrange homes for elderly and orphan persons. 4. To establish rehabilitation centres (chalk-piece making, tailoring, Book Binding and candle

making) for socially economically backward persons including disable and make them to earn their lively hood.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF STUDENTS OF ARDVO IN LAST FOUR YEARS

Red Cross Society of India, Nellore organized district level Elocution Competition on (Aids) on

1st December 2009.

Red Cross Society of India (Nellore) organized district level Essay competition on Blood

Donation on June 14th 2010 ARDVO students participated and got prizes.

ARDVO Student Mr. A.M.Ugandar have received 1st prize in the Elocution Competition

by Joint Collector. Sourab Gour (I.A.S)

Mr. Naresh, B. Suresh and K. Naveen got 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in essay competition and Joint Collector

Nellore Sri. Sourab Jour I.A.S gave away the prizes to our students.

From Academic Year 2010-2011 ARDVO students Mr. S.K. Meharaz and V. Rajeswari who passed 10th have scored 510/600, 468/600 while Mr. Ugandar have scored 828/1000 in Intermediate respectively.

S.K. Jilani Basha (Project Officer, Rajiv Vidya Mission), K. Kameswara Rao (R.M. State Bank of India) and K.V. Baskar Babu (A.G.M, State Bank of India, Main Branch Nellore) felicitated the above mentioned students. Mr. K. Naveen and Mr. B. Suresh scored 898/1000 and 860/1000 in Intermediate respectively for the academic year 2011-2012. So the management have arranged felicitation to these students on 22nd June 2012. Who scored highest marks in their college.

Chief Guest for the function Mr. B.V. Ramana Kumar (I.P.S) Superintend of Police Nellore felicitated the above students.

HISTORICAL BACK GROUND

“Anjana Rural Development Voluntary Organization” (A.R.D.V.O) is a secular, non-profit, voluntary organization. This organization is the brain child of sri B. Siva Kumar, Research scholar from University of Hyderabad working in the area of disable studies. Being visually impaired by birth, he has undergone lot of discriminations in the society which motivated him to establish the above mentioned organization. Sri. B.S. Kumar started Anjana Hostel with just 2 students in 2007. Latter he floated a Society by name “Anjana Rural Development Voluntary Organization” with family members and likeminded friends in September 12th 2008 under registration no. 212/2008.

Inauguaration of ARDVO hostel

To provide free basic requirements like food and shelter to visually impaired students and to accommodate more number of students the management of the organization decided to hire a building on 10th May 2009. This building is located at Balaji Nagar, opp - Anjaneya swamy temple, Nellore.

Honourable M.L.A. Sri . M. Sridhar Krishna Reddy (Nellore urban, A.P) inauguarated the hostel building.

K.Kameswara rao (A.G.M) S.B.I. Main branch. Nellore was present on the occasion.

Currently, the organization has the strength of 17 children out of which 4 are female children. Who are studying in different mainstream schools and colleges in Nellore. The age of the students is between 6 to 20 years and these students are studying in (4th, 5th, 10th, Inter and degree).

Inauguaration of Documentary Movie on the history of Nellore

Mr. Siva Kumar along with his friends and the few committee members toured the entire Nellore District for period of 42 days covering 1750 Kms. being a visually impaired, it did not stand in the way of making a ducumentary on the history of Nellore (34 min) titled Simhapuri Sirulu. The project was started on 16th Dec 2008 and completed by July 2nd 2009.

ARDVO’S EYE DONATION CAMPAIGN FROM August 25 to September 8, 2009:

As part of the National Eye Donation fortnight, held from August 25 to September 8, 2009, the Anjana Rural Development Voluntary Organization along with few private schools undertook a string of activities to raise awareness on the importance of eye donation and to sensitize the public on the need to pledge eyes.

OFFICIAL INAUGURATION OF COMPUTER TRAINING CENTRE

For the first time in the history of Nellore District, ARDVO decided to provide free computer training for visually impaired students. With the help of State Bank of India (Main Branch, Barracks, Nellore), Sri. Nethaji. Subba Reddy and Bommisetty Rajeswaramma charitable trust provided computers and multipurpose Xerox, printer cum scanner to the organization.

E.DAMODAR (I.P.S) Superintend of Police Nellore officially inaugurated the computer training centre for visually students on 1st May 2010.

E. Damodar (I.P.S) gave away Jaws and Kuzwell software’s to the students who completed their training on 2nd July 2010. At the same time he also inaugurated financial diary designed by ARDVO.

Celebrations of World Disable Day

ARDVO celebrated the World Disable Day on 3rd December 2010 at Sri Nethaji (MSR) Pilot High School. This programme was aimed to create awareness among non disable children regarding the problems faced by disable children in the society. The programme also try to highlight the importance of Inclusive Education.

Chief Guest E.Damodar (I.P.S. Superintend of Police, Nellore) Felicitated Mr. Venkat rao a

visually impaired warden of Govt. Hostel for his excellence service. Mr. Venkat rao also received the

best warden award from Govt. of Andhra Pradesh.

Students march for eye donation:

Almost all the students and staff of five different

main stream schools marched to create awareness about eye donation. Some of the students also decided to pledge their eyes at the end of it. Around 300 students from these schools participated in the eye donation awareness walk on August 25th 2011 early morning shouting slogans “Donate your eyes provide sight”.

In the same way the organization arranged blood donation camp. 50 members donated blood on this day.

On the eve of World Disable Day ARDVO felicitated the persons who supported the ARDVO students for past four years. Sri. B.V. Ramana Kumar (IPS) Superintend of Police Nellore and B. Srinivasulu Reddy (Indian Foreign Service) felicitated K.V. Baskar Babu (A.G.M) S.B.I. Main branch. Nellore P. Penchal narayana (Lecturer, P.R.R Junior college), Baskar (principal V.R College), M.Gangadhar (M.D. M.G. Brothers Automobiles Pvt. Ltd.) and Nethaji. Subbareddy (Principal Sri Nethaji M.S.R Pilot High School) on 3rd December, 2011

Consequently, the management of the organization arranged musical night by visually impaired students in the town hall.

REQUIREMENTS TO ARDVO:

Currently there are 17 students and 5 members of the staff in ARDVO hostel. The management of the organization spends Rs. 25,000/- for month for the expences of these children. The expences include Food, Building Rents, Electric Bill, Transport, Civil and Uniform Dress, Medical and other stationary expences. Therfore to develop the strength and infrastructure of the organization is becoming difficult to the management. So the management is requesting for donations according to the donors wish.(Donations can be received by kind or cash)

24/7 MEALS SCHEME: The management of organization is requesting donor support to provide meals for the students of the organization. The rates at which donor should pay to the management for sponsoring meal is given below.

1. Morning Breakfast (22 member) : Rs. 550/-

2. One time normal meals (22 members) : Rs. 750/-

(Rice, Sambar, Rasam, buttermilk and curry)

3. Evening Snacks : Rs. 200/-

4. One day ordinary meals (Break fast+Meals+Snacks+Meals): Rs. 2000/-

5. One time vegetarian special meal : Rs. 1500/-

(Rice, Sweet, Fruit, Dal, Appadam, Curry, Chutny, Sambar, Rasam, Buttermilk)

6. One time Non-Veg Meal : Rs. 1800/-

7. One day special feast (Breakfast +Special Vegetarian Lunch + Snacks + Ordinary vegetarian

lunch) : Rs. 2300/-

8. One day Non-Vegetarian Feast : Rs. 2650/-

(Note: Donors can give cash are kind for sponsoring food. At the same time donors can bring food items of their own choice.) So we request all the donors to kindly spend your auspicious occasions like Birthdays, Marriage days, and other functions with our children. Donors also can provide Uniform, civil dress and other stationary items to the students. If there are any Philanthropists, we request them to sponsor each student educational expenses for year. (Note: This expense would change according to the classes) At the same time we also request the donors to provide rice, vegetables, oil and provisions.

All the donations in cash can be issued through D.Ds, or Cheques. The donations paid to the organization would receive Income Tax Exemption.

ORGANIZATION PROFILE Vision/Goal of the Organization: ANJANA RURAL DEVELOPMENT VOLUNTARY ORGANIZATION (ARDVO) believes that development of symbiotic relationship between socio-economic and ecological factors leading to human emancipation. Efforts should be towards building a society, which does not procrastinate interest of the deprived. People have to be facilitated towards realization of this objective. However, initial efforts to educate and motivate these down trodden, will have to be carried on by Non-Governmental Organizations working for the Society.
