Introduction Despite the lack of money, or major partner, the project continues to make progress. If you are able to spare a little cash, or do some machining/fabricating, then please help because we are so close to getting the streamliner running!

Dan finalizing details on the engine install

Engine Recently we have concentrated on the engine, with the hope of making a lot of noise very soon. Dan has worked wonders getting the starter motor system sorted with Eurolec, who have been brilliant in organising the starter motor. They have made a new flywheel and starter motor bracket to our specifications. Now Dan has modeled up the CAD drawings to machine the bell housing and engine base plate so that Sam at Kaitech can complete the work this week. Roger has already taken the parts over to him. The completion of this phase will allow Dan to build the motor up with the clutch and the starter system in place finally. We intend to have the rear wheel in place when we run the engine so that we can have it turning with the engine.

The inlet pipes are being made to attach the temporary carbs just above the cylinder heads, and most of the oil lines are connected, with the rest due to be attached in two weeks, along with the water hoses. Howard is making the main engine strengthener that runs from the back cover to the front, joining to the barrels on each side to brace the whole engine as one. Roger and Stu are making blanking plates and adapters as required by Dan. John Wharf continues to beaver away on his lathe, and is trying to see if he can get the wheels machined, as we have been let down (yet again) in the quest to get them sorted. Roger’s son, Stuart, has welded up the exhaust headers to allow us to run the engine when the fittings and starter motor are in place.

Chains Phillip Hewitt from ERIKS UK promised us some chains when I met him at the MACH Show, so I have contacted him so that they will arrive in time for the engine test.

Tudor receiving rear hub from Matt at T.M.A Engineering

Hubs Roger and Tudor are doing sterling work with the centre hub parts, the rear hub and the wheels. Tudor has picked up the rear hub from T.M.A. Engineering, which is a work of art, so many thanks to Matt and his team.

Roger has the alterations of the rear swing arm in hand, and that should be finished next week. Stuart is going to weld that up as well.

Controls Peter Trevor and David Brown continue to make progress with the controls and dash for the cockpit. I recently tried out the harness that we will use for testing, and Stu has made a great job of fitting it in the tight space.

Suzy Thomas Our newest partner is Suzy Thomas, so I would like to welcome her to the team. Suzy is working with Just Digital and Exhibition Superstore to get us some decent display materials to help us show off the project.

Bonneville I am travelling out to Bonneville in two weeks for the Shootout meeting. I am checking out the format of the meeting and how it runs with the FIA and FIM regulations. I also want to learn more about the pre-run checking systems used by the teams, including Ron Main and Speed Demon, who are having a crack at the outright wheel-driven record, currently held by Don Vesco at 458.440mph.
