API Standard 650 Storage Tank Data Sheet

L.l lntroduct¡on

L.'1.1 Purpose

This Annex provides guidance to Purchasers (owners, engineerirE contractors, and other des¡gnated agents) and

Mandacturers (fabricators and erectors) for the preparat¡on and complet¡on ú the Atmospheric Storage Tank Data

Sheet (hereafter refered to as the Data Sheet). The Data Sheet shall be prepared in conjunction with h¡s standard

such that comprehensive proposals (bids) may be made and subsequent conúacts may be placed for lhe fabricaüon

and erection oftanks.

L.l.2 Scope

This Annex explains information to be placed on the Data Sheet primarily by Purchasers for use by Manufacurers. However, some of the instruct¡ons apply to eiüer the Purchaser or the Manufacuirer, depending on which party

assumes certain responsibilities.

L.2 Use of This Annex

L.2.1 Dala Sheet Purpose

The Data Sheet (attached to this Annex) shall be part of a complete tank specil¡cation. The Daia Sheet provides

space for defining specif¡c techn¡cal ¡nformation such as geometry, design loads, materials, and appunenances, aswell as an outl¡ne sketch of the tank. The Data Sheet may be used as part of the Owner's permanent recorddescrib¡ng the tank. Because some informaüon on the Data Sheet may be determined by the Manufaclurer, the DataSheet may also be used to facilitate gaüering of the complete des¡gn requ¡rements. The floaüng roof section of theData Sheet may be omitted if no float¡ng roof is required for the tank.

L.2.2 Purchaser's Respons¡b¡l¡ty

The preparer(s) of the Data Sheet shall have tank des¡gn experience and shall ensure that the requiremenE are bothaccurate and complete. fhe Purchaser ¡s pr¡marily respons¡ble for initiat¡ng and completing the Data Sheet.

L.2.3 Manufacturer's Responsib¡l¡ty

The Manufacturer shall complete the Data Sheet as required to describe the proposal and shall provide the relevant¡nformat¡on requ¡red on all l¡nes marked with an asterisk (') that have not been provided by the Purchaser. The DataSheet shall be submined at various times during the prqiect as described ¡n W.1.2(2).

L.2.4 Text Leg¡b¡l¡ty

All text placed on the Data Sheet shall be of s¡ze and quality to be readable and reproducible. Use addit¡onal sheetsor extend the form electron¡cally for more space or necessary additions.
