INCOME TAX – OBTAINING FRESH TAN – REMITTING OF INCOME TAX

TO POOLING BRANCHES TO REMIT TO CENTRAL GOVT. ACCOUNT

Ref: Circular No.28-2006-BC-STF dt. 14.7.2006.

All Branches/Offices are aware that in view of amalgamation of three RRBs the

calculation, deduction and remitting of Income Tax on salaries to Govt. has been

delegated to individual branches/offices with effect from the month of July 2006 vide

Circular cited.

As the implementation of centralised salary administration is getting delayed due to

technical problems in synchronizing the existing salary programmes of three RRBs, the

salary sheets have been dispatched by Head Office, R.O. Anantapur and R.O. Nellore as

usual to concerned Branches/Offices for the month of July 2006 and it may continue for

2 or 3 months. The Head Office has shown the Income Tax deduction (TDS) in July

2006 salary sheets pertaining to Branches/Offices of erstwhile RGB for the information

of individual branches/offices.

The Branches/Offices need not send Income Tax (TDS) amount to Head Office as

remitting of TDS is delegated to individual Branches/Offices. Accordingly they have

to remit the TDS amounts to concerned pooling branches by way of separate

Cr. IBA. All Branches/Offices are advised to follow the procedure as given below:

1.Submission of application/Form No.49B for obtaining fresh TAN by

Branches/Offices:

All Branches/Offices are advised to obtain fresh TAN in the name of Andhra Pragathi

Grameena Bank by applying in Form No.49B along with requisite payment i.e. Rs.56/-

(Rs. 50/- towards application fee + Rs.6/- as Service Tax @ 12.24%) to TIN-FCs listed

in Annexure-I. The Form of application for TAN/Form No.49B is enclosed (3 copies) to

this Circular and the same shall be submitted in duplicate, retaining 3rd

copy at the

Branch/Office. Branches should carefully go through the instructions (given at the

end of Form No. 49B) before filling up Form 49B. As the TIN-FCs are demanding and

collecting different amounts as service charges beyond Rs.56/- the branches of Kadapa

and Kurnool Districts are seeking permission to incur such extra expenditure ranging

from Rs.156/- to Rs.356/- for obtaining fresh TAN Number, it is decided to get the work

done through R.O. Nellore. Hence all Branches/Offices in Kadapa and Kurnool Districts

are advised to submit application for TAN/Form No.49B duly filled in and signed in

duplicate to the Area Manager concerned immediately. All Area Managers in Kadapa

and Kurnool Districts shall collect applications for TAN in duplicate from branches in

their Area and send the same to R.O., Nellore directly to save the delay.

All Branches/Offices in Nellore and Ongole Districts are to submit their respective

applications to R.O. Nellore immediately. R.O.Nellore has to co-ordinate the work of

obtaining fresh TAN Numbers for Branches/Offices by handing over the applications to

TIN-FCs at Nellore which has quoted Rs.56/- as fees per branch. All Branches/Offices in

Ananatpur District are also advised to submit their respective applications in duplicate

for fresh TAN immediately to R.O., Anantapur. The R.O. Anantapur has to co-ordinate

the work of obtaining fresh TAN Numbers from TIN-FCs at Anantapur for a fees at

Rs.56/- per branch.

2. Remittance of Income Tax every month through pooling branches/centers:

Branches/Offices where there are no SBI/other Commercial Banks locally to remit

Income Tax, are advised to send monthly TDS amounts in separate Cr. IBA along with

Challan duly filled in and signed, every month to concerned pooling branch for

remittance. It is also noted that all SBI/Commercial Bank Branches are not accepting

Income Tax payments. As such, based on information available, Head Office has given

the list of pooling branches/Centres along with branches attached to each pooling branch

in Annexure II. All pooling branches in turn on receipt of Cr.IBA and Challan from

respective branches shall remit tax to Govt. Account and send back the counterfoil to

the respective branches. All Branches/Offices shall note that no TA Bills will be

sanctioned in connection with remitting of TDS and obtaining of fresh TANs.

All the Branches/Offices are advised to keep the office copy of the Form No.49B,challan

copies and all the related material, correspondence etc., in a separate file called “Income

Tax On Salaries of Staff.”

This Circular shall be circulated among all the staff working at Branches/Offices against

their acknowledgement .

Clarification, if any, to this Circular may be sought from the Personnel Department, Head

Office, Kadapa.
